The cryptocurrency market peaked in 2021 and has since become a hot topic of debate among investors. Bitcoin and Ethereum, for example, reached new all-time highs, with Bitcoin also doubling its 2017 ATH of $20,000. The market has the potential to be a great deal for investors, but choosing the right coin to invest in can be challenging.

There are thousands of different crypto coins available. The comparison could go beyond the top coins, Bitcoin and Ethereum, whether you are a short-term or long-term investor.

Are you trying to figure out the cryptocurrency coin is the best to invest in?

Bitcoin

By market capitalization, Bitcoin is the most valuable cryptocurrency, with a value that no other cryptocurrency may equal. Bitcoin is now regarded by its early investors as a gold-like investment choice. The coin has a high degree of uncertainty. It has seen dramatic ups and downs, like hacking, like every other cryptocurrency, but it has consistently maintained its status as the top cryptocurrency with outstanding results.

About a decade ago, Bitcoin and blockchain technology were first introduced, making it the first and oldest crypto and blockchain project. Many other cryptocurrencies have since entered the mainstream, despite the fact that most investors are wary of their price fluctuations, with some even abandoning the market.

Looking back at the value of Bitcoin in 2013, the coin was trading at $34.50 in March and was on the verge of breaking $1,000 in December. Four years later, in 2017, Bitcoin crossed $20,000, despite the fact that the rise was seen as a bubble triggered by market manipulations. Surprisingly, the coin is currently nearly tripling its 2017 high, implying that someone who invested $35 in Bitcoin in 2013 would have made a profit of over 1500 percent by 2021.

Ethereum

Ethereum is the second most valuable digital currency in terms of market capitalization. It has risen in popularity over the course of its six-year lifespan, owing to its nature as a development forum. It is software that has a financial component. Decentralized finance (Defi), decentralised applications (dApps), and smart contracts are all hosted on Ethereum's blockchain.

The coin first reached its all-time peak in 2018 when it traded at $1,440, but it collapsed along with Bitcoin after the Bitcoin bubble burst. However, part of Ethereum's downfall can be attributed to high network fees and slow speeds caused by project congestion on its blockchain.

The coin has yet to realise its full potential, and in 2021, it also skyrocketed, touching an all-time high of slightly more than $2,000. It has experienced tremendous growth since its inception in 2015, when it began trading at around $2, and it is expected to continue to do so after the release of Ethereum 2.0.

Litecoin

Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that looks a lot like Bitcoin. The only major difference is that it creates blocks faster than Bitcoin, which takes ten minutes. The blocks in Litecoin are added every 2.5 minutes, which makes transactions fast. It is one of the most valuable crypto coins in terms of market capitalization. It is currently ranked number 8 on Coinmarketcap.com, suggesting that it has the potential for long-term value.

The coin was worth $4.30 when it first went live in 2013, but it later fell to $1.50 before the first bull-run. After briefly crossing the $40 value just before 2014, the cryptocurrency coin had a volatile year. It then declined gradually over the year, finally reaching a single-dollar value. It was also a part of the 2017 bubble, reaching an all-time high of $375 in December before plummeting to $30 in 2018.

The coin's volatility persisted into 2019, when it encountered a 600 percent rise in value before falling to its bare bottom. In 2021, however, the crypto coin is retreating, with a current price of $200. The coin has regained the confidence of major investors. It is the driving force behind the current upward trend, and with sustained help, it has the potential to reach extreme highs in the long run.

Binance Coin

Binance coin is the native token of Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange. Since its launch in 2017, it has seen tremendous growth, including a move from Ethereum's blockchain to its own Binance blockchain.

Being a native coin on the Binance exchange has a number of advantages for the crypto coin, which could lead to its rapid development. Educational tools on blockchain and digital currencies, a trustworthy wallet, a charitable foundation, and Binance Labs for blockchain ventures and cryptocurrency investment promotion are among the platform's appealing features.

Furthermore, Binance follows a quarterly token burn scheme, which seeks to increase the value of each coin by reducing the supply. Users who completed transactions with BNB received a 25% discount from the exchange, which was doubled in 2017. The Binance team intended to cut the 25% discount in half in 2019, but the exchange has yet to do so. The coin's demand and value will gradually rise under such a scheme, making it perfect for long-term investors.

Binance coin's value has increased by 300 percent since 2021, and crypto analysts say it will continue to rise and potentially overtake Bitcoin.

Tezos

The Tezos network was released in 2017 following a well-publicized initial coin offering (ICO) that raised $232 million. While its native coin faced a lot of adversity after its launch, it is still the largest ICO in the world. Tezos is the 23rd most popular coin by market capitalization as of this article.

Despite its two-year losing streak, the coin continues to display growth potential, but at a slow rate, making it a good long-term investment. It is currently worth $4.24, up from $3.13 in January 2020.

Its rapid growth is due in large part to the Tezos blockchain's position in the creation of decentralised applications. In the Dapp room, the Tezos blockchain is now seen as a possible competitor to Ethereum. Elevated Returns are recently chosen to fund their $1.6 billion tokenized real estate offers for investors. Such enthusiasm for decentralised finance could bode well for Tezos.

Final Thoughts

Despite the fact that the cryptocurrency market is notoriously unpredictable, certain coins have seen substantial long-term gains. The industry is on its way to being mainstream. As more people join in, digital currencies can become viable investment options in the future.

In an ideal world, all of the cryptocurrencies mentioned above are trading at a fair premium to their launch date prices. Bitcoin, for example, has experienced significant growth since its inception, indicating that long-term cryptocurrency investment is a viable option. Investors can be enticed by these incredible rises. Due to the unpredictable nature of cryptocurrency, it is critical to consider that what appears to be correct in one moment in the crypto space may turn out to be incorrect the next.
