International social media has a huge impact all over the world. As a result, even developing countries like Bangladesh have developed some domestic means of communication without lagging behind. E.g.-
> * Beshto.com is the first Bengali medium of social communication. By which Bengali speakers get the opportunity to exchange their views and feelings with each other in the whole of Bengal.
* Sam Where In Blog is a social blogging site. No more than 140 words can be written on Twitter or other services but this blog site has the advantage of writing small and big blogs.
* Another medium of social communication with all kinds of information is BD All Info. Which was created by Maruch, a student in the electrical engineering department at RUET, in conjunction with Saddam.
* 'Haukau' dot com has been launched in Bangladesh with all the benefits of Facebook. It can be used to make new friendships, chat, upload videos and create groups.
* A site called Feriwala has been created to know the shopping news of the people of Bangladesh all over the world.
* Cafe Yard is the first full social media in Bangladesh. This website has some special features along with all the benefits of social networking.
* In the huge world of internet, the medium called Nagarbalak has been created keeping in mind the ideas of everyone from old to young.
* The social media of music lovers are: Music Jalsa, Murchna, Polapine Music, Music Furti, Free.com, BD Bangla etc.
Besides, some other local media are Facebook, Milemax, Rangmahal, Bdspot, Awaaz, FriendFace Bangladesh, FNF Peer.com etc.
Advantages
Social media has multiple benefits. E.g.-
- Social media has brought people very close by overcoming the barriers of geographical distance.
- In the means of communication, it is possible to find old friends, make new friends and invite others outside your own circle.
- Various news and information are easily available in these media.
- It doesn't cost much to become a member. Similarly, less educated people can use it easily.
- Social media supports different languages. Besides, their practical words are also quite simple.
- Social media has a role to play in free expression and the creation of good writers.
Disadvantages
In addition to the advantages of social media, there are several disadvantages. E.g.-
- Abuse through social media is causing moral decay and social catastrophe.
- Terrorists are carrying out their terrorist activities by using these means easily.
- Social media is becoming an obstacle in the way of healthy development of children. At the same time, their body is also being adversely affected, such as arthritis, obesity, poor memory, quarrels, etc. are causing problems.
- People are highlighting various aspects of their lives on social media. As a result, opportunistic countries are using these means for intelligence and security.
Social media has become very popular all over the world. Which is playing a huge role in bringing the distance of the earth in the palm of your hand. Both the country and its people will benefit if the negative aspects can be consciously avoided and the positive aspects can be put to good use.
