RADIOLOGY

The Radiology Service works with practically all sectors of the institution, but especially with the critical areas, prevention and pre-kidney transplant evaluation. All kinds of simple and contrasted radiographs are performed.

 PROFESSIONAL STAFF

The service has certified radiologists in the specialty and radiological technicians who cover care 24 hours a day, every day of the week.

 EQUIPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE

In the service, double emulsion films and special techniques are used for chest x-rays, which allow the mediastinum (heart, great vessels and neighboring structures) and also the lung parenchyma to be evaluated in greater detail.

In the Central Building there are two radiography rooms, one with a conventional equipment and the other with a seriographer, with which contrasted studies are carried out. This last equipment is digital and allows the images to be acquired directly in that format; therefore, studies can be delivered on CD, which allows for dynamic evaluation of images.

MAGNETIC RESONANCE

The University Hospital of the Favaloro Foundation has inaugurated the Magnetic Resonance Service with the incorporation of a latest generation 1.5 tesla resonator.

This equipment allows to provide diagnosis for both cardiovascular diseases and pathologies in the areas of Neuroscience, Orthopedics and Traumatology and Medical Clinic.

In the cardiovascular territory, the most useful indication in adults is the comprehensive study of coronary heart disease. Magnetic resonance imaging allows one study to assess morphology, ventricular function, and myocardial perfusion (both at rest and stress) to detect ischemia. Furthermore, it is the most convenient current technique for the detection of infarcts, especially those of a smaller size or of subendocardial location. Due to its high spatial and temporal resolution, this method is ideal for the study of residual myocardial viability in the acute and chronic stages of infarction and allows predicting the prognosis of myocardial revascularization procedures. In both children and adults with congenital heart disease, it is of great value in the preoperative evaluation of complex heart disease

In the neurological area, magnetic resonance imaging has the ability to perform three-dimensional structure analysis, and clearly separates efferent and afferent nerve pathways and their central attachments. The images are presented as a detailed anatomical slide. In addition, it is capable of providing dynamic functional information by marking the activation zones in the cerebral cortex, making it very useful for the study of cerebral vascular disease, nerve injuries, tumors, epilepsy and higher neurocognitive functions.

In Traumatology, it allows the study of the entire spine in a single image, of large and small joints as well as cartilage and peripheral nerves, large and small joints, as well as cartilage and peripheral nerves (plexobrachial, plexolumbosacral, nerve tractography sciatic).RADIOLOGY

Other applications that can be performed in the whole body include, among others, cholangioresonance, splenoportography, diffusion in the liver, breast resonance, resonance urogram and lower limb angio-resonance.
