A person with tinnitus often hears “ringing and clicking in the ears,” but they may also hear hissing or whistling sounds. It can be acute, or it can be chronic and persistent. Actually tinnitus appears as a symptom of another health condition which I am going to explore in front of you. Tinnitus is a very annoying and disturbing ear problem, so we should be aware of this issue and take some serious steps to protect ourselves from this condition. Although mostly people who are above 50 years are vulnerable to this issue, adults and even children can face this problem too.
Presbycusis
Age-related hearing loss occurs gradually as a person gets older and it's natural. This type of hearing loss runs in families due to genetic similarities and may occur because of changes in the inner ear and auditory nerve. Presbycusis produce a hard struggle for a person to tolerate loud sounds or to hear what the second person is saying. Approximately two in five people in the United States between the ages of 60 and 75 have hearing loss, and nearly half of those older than 75 have difficulty hearing.
Hearing Loss by Noise
Exposure to loud noises over time can damage the auditory system and result in hearing loss and sometimes tinnitus as well. The pitch of noise harms your hearing, more pitch related to more harm to your ears as well as more exposure to loudness is equal to more damage to your ears. Because cells and nerves in the inner ear are too soft and destroyed by repeated exposure to loudness. If these all cells and nerves are destroyed, hearing can be permanently damaged. Always stay away from too much noise.
Middle Ear Blockage
Blockage in the middle ear can cause a pressure in the inner ear, and the middle ear can be blocked for different reasons.
Ceruminosis
Ceruminosis is the excessive production of wax. The ear wax lubricates the ears as well as it has the properties to kill different bacteria, but untreated buildup of earwax can lead to hearing loss, irritation, pain in the ear, dizziness, ringing in the ears and other problems. So be careful and always try to clean your ears softly with baby oil and soft damp cloth.
Head Congestion
Head congestion is the feeling of pressure, fullness, or other discomforts from your head. This congestion originates in the head, neck, and nose. Often some people who have the issue of sinuses, can also face this problem.
TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury
Mild traumatic brain injury can affect your brain cells temporarily or on a low ratio. More-serious traumatic brain injury can result in bruising, torn tissues, bleeding and other physical damage to the brain. TBI is one of the major causes of tinnitus. If you feel any pain in your brain then immediately contact the doctor.
Medication
Often Tinnitus is a potential side-effect of many prescription medications. However, in most cases and for most drugs, tinnitus is an acute, short lived side effect. Medications like quinine based, non steroidal and certain antibiotics can cause acute type of tinnitus in some people.
High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure worsens your tinnitus. All the food that includes junk food categories, alcohol, more caffeine and extra salt are too bad for tinnitus, and this all food can initiate this problem too.
If you want to keep your ear healthy so,
Keep away from too loud or use hearing protection devices like earmuffs when you cannot avoid loud sounds.
Stay away from foods that can boost your blood pressure, and do exercise daily.
Take some minerals and vitamins on a daily basis, like zinc and vitamin B12 are very good for improving the symptoms of tinnitus.
Try to consume folate rich food like leafy vegetables, asparagus, spinach and broccoli, and pomegranates and kiwi are also very good sources of folate. Actually folate is an essential vitamin that prevents hearing loss and protects us from tinnitus.
Don't use cotton swabs in your ears because they can damage your ears by puncturing ear drums. Cotton buds also damage the tiny structure of the ear. Put 2 drops of glycerin in your ears and then clean off it with damp soft cloth.
I hope you like my article in which I try to explain about a very sensitive issue of the ears. Give me your feedback!
Thank you so much!
