Eating Sweet Foods in Moderation this Holiday
Since holiday is coming, sweet foods will never be missing in our table. It could be chocolate truffles, red velvet cake, gingerbread, cookies, fudge and many more. It's the season of sugar for us and we cannot avoid to indulge ing sugary foods espescially it's holiday season. During holiday season it seems that sweets are everywhere we look. However eating too much sugar is not good but it doesn't mean you have to stop yourself from eating sweet foods of course you deserve the best treat this holiday season but with moderation and eating sweet foods properly, you are eating healthy!
Holiday season is not about limiting yourself from the foods you want to eat during the holiday but you have to make the motivation to make a lot of healthy choices this season. Have some health goals this year by taking commitment to yourself. Chose and start a healthy lifestyle but I know there is always the pressure when you look at very delicious tempting goods in the corner trying to lure you, well it's a great challenge!
Since it's holiday, only allow small indulgences which means do not overtake too much sweet, eat only a moderate amount. You deserved to enjoy they holiday treats so you have the right to indulge sweets this season but of course in moderation. The best thing you can do is to list down the treats that you want to eat this holiday and you'll decide which one you'll eat first. Be mindful about how much and when you will going to eat sweets.
Set a day where you will eat zero sugar. If tomorrow is the Christmas then you have to eat 0% sugar today. If you are going to be spoiled with so much sugar on Christmas then set this day with no sugar, let yourself prepare for the sugar indulgence. This can keep your taste buds from too much sweets and it allows you to keep a normal and healthy lifestyle.
To summarize it all these are the simple and basic things you can do to avoid eating too much sugary foods, eat only a smaller portions at a time, eat fewer calories and sugar at the same time, chose to eat the treats you only want so that you won't be spending too much sugar on other foods. If you are making or cooking them there are healthy ways to make your desserts guilt free, instead of using butter oil try to substitute it with applesauce instead. Use whole grain instead of refined flour in baking. Substitute some nonfat and low-sugar to your ice cream and whipped cream. Add some glad seeds or toasted nuts to make your desserts tasty and healthy at the same time.
When you eat too much sweets always remember to drink a lot of water afterwards. Enjoy your favorite treats by drinking a lot of water afterwards, these will keep your health normal. In order for you to stick with this goal, try to call a friend whom you can share the goal so atleast you won't be alone and bored with this challenge. Together you will set challenge to do it and together you will achieved your goals.
Though we know that everyone doesn't have the tolerance to take control of the sweets they are eating and who would love to avoid and skip the warm velvet brownies served just around your table. Of course it's hard to say NO. But you can do something from it, you can eat a small piece and then continue to eat it maybe tomorrow or later just don't eat a huge portion at a single time.
Despite so much abundance of sugars these holidays we can still enjoy them with our family by making healthy choices together! Start your goals by eating less added sugar and stick to your healthy goals this season and you will start a healthy New Year!
