Who Moved My Cheese?
Sep 10, 2022
I had already written months ago on this topic, but because of its meaning these days, I think it is necessary to return to it. Life is not rosy, and we have to be careful with the actions we do on a daily basis because in the future they can be devastating. A phrase that you say to hurt, to hurt, to make another person feel bad, even if you don't really feel it, can destroy many things inside the person to whom you are saying it. It becomes a reality over time and ends up affecting everyone in that environment.
Many times we think that having stability is the best thing that can happen to us and we get stuck without looking for anything else. We believe that the work we have is the best in the world, even if it is not at all. You talk to your friends and they tell you their experiences and how it went and you just have to swallow dry, because you realize you weren't right. There is a world out there that is waiting for you.
Being afraid of change is an instinct that we all have by nature. Then we pretend to be something that we are not and that everything is fine, even when it is not. It can be traumatic to be in a job for years and suddenly your boss moves you to another task. It is quite annoying and you think that you will not be able to fulfill it. You have to keep in mind that only the cheese has been moved and that it is up to you to go get it or get stuck. The most advisable thing is to go in search of that new cheese, with more energy than ever and with the experience of the previous one. Now you are more mature and you can face things better. You will distrust yourself and doubt yourself, but when you take the first step, you will definitely know how to take the other. You can do it, it is impossible for you to fail, and failure is not an option.
Who Moved My Cheese? is a metaphor that has saved many people from falling into the void and being exposed to nothing. Whoever does not move in search of new goals, is stagnant and extinguished in the face of so much competition today. It tells the story of 2 little people and 2 little mice that lived in a labyrinth and that day after day carried out the same routine, they followed the same pattern in the labyrinth in search of that source of cheese that they had there. One day, when arriving at the same place, the cheese was not there, it had disappeared. It was then that they had to make a decision: "they were waiting for the cheese to come back or they were going to enter the labyrinth in search of new cheeses."
Cheese represents your job, your love relationship, your routine, and everyday life. If at any time any of them is affected, what will you do? Will you be regretting life what was at some point or will you move in search of new challenges?
Staying stagnant is not an option. Those who get stuck don't get much further in life. Constantly lamenting for something that will never return. You have to keep moving. Life is too short to waste it on regrets. Remember that the cheese is constantly moving and that you have to be aware of these changes, so that you can move more easily.
What would you do?
