Down memory lane: times with Bee
Have you ever had that one friend whose memory puts a wide smile on your face? If no, then you are missing out a lot in friendship. I'm always filled with the joyful memories of Bee. It is sad that I lost her but her memories makes her seem near.
Her name was not actually Bee, it was a fun name I gave her which slowly overshadowed her real name. She was my best friend in secondary school. I refer to her in the past tense because she is now late.
Times spent with her were the most special moments of my life. Though our first meeting wasn't pleasant, we ended up as best of friends. I remember we fought over a locker in school. Since then, we began looking for ways to get back at each other, but this further drew us together as friends. I remember applying glue on her chair so that she was unable to stand or even walk around the school through out the day. That landed a heavy punishment from our head teacher. Bee retaliated with the same trick. We played silly pranks on each other.
There was also a time when she pranked me by sticking a note which read "I am a fowl" to the back of my school shirt. It was an embarrassing day for me. Even my school crush had to see it.
Besides playing bad pranks and embarrassing each other, we cared a lot for each other. Bee would always motivate me in my down moments. She was my motivational speaker. She made sure I always had a smile on my face at all times.
She had a different outlook on life. To her, the best moments are the ones we create for ourselves. She taught me to always put myself first. She was the queen of talking me out of stupid ideas and decisions. Bee was just the best.
The day that I lost Bee left a huge scar in me. The memory remind ever fresh. That afternoon, Bee and I went out to unwind. We went to our favorite spot. It was in an open space. There, we saw a group of guys in a heated argument. We minded our business. Soon we began to hear gunshot sounds. The guys were engaged in a fight. Bee and I ran for our dear lives. Soon Bee began to lag behind. She got hit by a stay bullet. There was no one who had the courage to convey her to the hospital amid the heavy shootout. I can still remember the pain in her eyes. With her mouth opened wide and eyes looking at me,she gave up the ghost. That was the last time I ever spent with Bee.
Till today, I still stand vehemently against violence. I lost a valued friend because of the activities of some group of insane boys who attache no value to human life.
I hope that one day, they will face the consequences of their crimes.
I always feel and miss my friends smile. He is no more but his memory always with me.
