Borno : Konduga .... Kawuri Community, Zulum resettles Displcaed Families, with 750 houses, N37.5m , food and Non food items
Borno Governor Professor Engr Babagana Umara Zulum ably represented by his Deputy Governor HE Hon Umar Kadafur to flagged of the resettlement of 750 displaced households of Kawuri Community in Konduga LGA with each of 750, given a low-lost house and cash of N50,000 making 37.5m for all of them, as emergency relief.
Variety of food items, mosquito nets, mats and blankets were also distributed to each of the households, normally a humanitarian term used to categorize a family of six persons.
A team comprising Borno’s Commissioner Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Engr Mustapha Gubio, Special Adviser and Coordinator for Sustainable development, partnership and Humanitarian responses, Dr Mairo Mandara and chairperson of the State Emergency Management Agency, Hajja Yabawa Kolo, carried out the distribution Thursday town, on Zulum’s behalf.
Zulum had during his first visit to Kawuri town directed the construction of 500 units of low-cost houses and also directed the additional of 250 after second visit for displaced persons with the project completed this year.
The commissioner Ministry of RRR while presenting letters of allocation to beneficiaries said each family was to get 10 bags of rice-25kg , 10 bag of beans-10kg , 10 bags of grinded maize, 10 gallons of cooking oil in three litres , 10 sets of clothes, cooking utensils, mats, 10 Blankets, and 10 mosquito nets.
Humanitarian adviser, Hon (Dr) Mairo Mandara urged the people to have faith in God and be prayerful. She also advised the youths amongst them to focus on farming so as to become self reliant and urged parents to enroll the children into schools for both formal and informal education .
District head of Kawuri Community, Mallam Lawan AWA who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, lauded Governor Zulum for his tireless efforts in aggressive resettlement of people.
