Hello everyone,
This is the third part of my article entitled "Thinking about my Future Profession". I hope you guys will read it as well as the second part entitled " Can I Land a Job in Music Industry?".
And this time, another creative industry was tackled in the webinar series that I attended, which is the TV and Radio Station.
The speaker discussed the TV and radio before and during the pandemic, and the challenges that they encountered. He also presents data that shows the percentage of human interest in TV and radio news programs, which the entertainment got the higher percentage more than the information/education.
In this article, I’d like to point out my preference when it comes to news media and entertainment, is it TV and radio station or social media? Additionally, I will also talk about this creative industry as a potential career path after graduation.
To begin with, when I was young I used to experience listening to the radio since we don’t have television as well as electricity. We listen to news, drama, and songs on the radio. When the time where we already have a television, we still listen to the radio.
Our interest in radio is waning as time passes, owing to the fact that television provides both visual and auditory information, while radio just provides auditory information. Radio, on the other hand, allows the mind to be imaginative.
And then, I used to enjoy watching the news on television, especially at night when my family and I were watching and discussing what was being reported, it was like our bonding that time.
Unfortunately, once I got a cellphone, I didn’t watch TV that much, and instead, I spent my time scrolling around social media. Maybe I just watch television when I get tired of using my cellphone.
However, it is preferable to watch the news on television rather than read posts on social media since we never know if the source is reliable and also in television news are up to date.
Another pertinent point is, is this creative industry a good fit for the profession I’d like to get in the future?
When it comes to entertainment, yes, I have the ability to perform, even if it isn’t fully developed at this time. However, I believe it will develop over time, especially when you are in the field. While in the information/education, yes too, perhaps jobs behinds the camera, because as what the speaker stated that content is much more important and I think I have the ability.
In conclusion, even as technology advances, particularly in the areas of entertainment and information, the classics and old ones are not forgotten and will not be replaced by new developments.
And if I do get a position in this creative area, it will be a great opportunity for me to grow both professionally and personally.
I agree no matter how progress the technology has made, but still old ones have special place in our hearts and the thing I like most about radio is the one you mentioned above that, it provides us opportunity to be imaginative.
