Working Student Struggles

The most exciting stage of life is when you enter college. You start to feel autonomy with your life and feel the excitement of working on your dream. You also find many people that give you lessons that will never be learned inside the four corners of your classroom. The Friday night out, the study out, the getaway after exams, and the moments you and your friends were kicked out of the library because you were too noisy. Such a wonderful only minding how to work on your dream.

But this is not the case for everyone. Since the start of the outbreak of the pandemic, many had suffered and the number of dropouts from college is quite bothering. People are finding ways to survive instead of reaching their original dreams. But there are also who thrive to achieve their dreams while supporting their families. Being in a situation of dividing your time into two major responsibilities is never easy.

The amount of stress these people face every day is beyond the extent of what you could imagine. You work for almost 12hrs in a day, and once you are at home you need to attend 8 hrs of class. Then you need to spare time for preparations because in the next few hours you'll start your duty again.

The undying cycle is life draining. The day offs are never be rest days because it will be the days of submitting missing outputs. The salary is just enough to survive another 15 days of working. People might say that working student are very efficient and hard working but no one talks about how hard it is to be hard working. How draining it is to fulfill two responsibilities at the same time. How annoying it is that 24 hrs is never enough.

Deadlines don't scare them anymore, but due date of payments terrifies them. The half fulfill sack of rice, the bills, and the medical emergencies scares the hell out of them. It is never easy to protect yourself from being sick while you lured yourself in overtime duties. This the reality that some of us face.

To anyone who struggles the same way as what it is stated, I just want to say that sometimes we need a little break to build ourselves again. I hope you are in a place of peace despite with all of these.

Life might break us many times but I just want you to know that you have come so far from where you have started. You grow now into different person. You have learned a lot. It was tough but I appreciate all your efforts for being responsible to yourself and to your responsibilities. I am so proud that you never give up, I know all the pain and tears your have shed, because we share the same. I am so glad to see you still protecting the dream you love. The love you have for your dream is something cannot be steal. You are so strong for being there. Your presence alone can manifest the real definition of dedication.
