Hello just have to discuss this natural phenomenon upon experiencing heavy rains and flash of lightning and the roll of thunder in the sky. But before i begin with, i just want to say hello and hope you had a nice day. And for once i say thanks again if you find time to read this article of mine. And i do hope your all well.
Lightning
Lightning is an electrical discharge caused by imbalances between storm clouds and the ground, or within the clouds themselves. Most lightning occurs within the clouds.
"Sheet lightning" describes a distant bolt that lights up an entire cloud base. Other visible bolts may appear as bead, ribbon, or rocket lightning.
During a storm, colliding particles of rain, ice, or snow inside storm clouds increase the imbalance between storm clouds and the ground, and often negatively charge the lower reaches of storm clouds. Objects on the ground, like steeples, trees, and the Earth itself, become positively charged—creating an imbalance that nature seeks to remedy by passing current between the two charges.
Lightning is extremely hot—a flash can heat the air around it to temperatures five times hotter than the sun’s surface. This heat causes surrounding air to rapidly expand and vibrate, which creates the pealing thunder we hear a short time after seeing a lightning flash.
Impact of Lightning Strike
Lightning is not only spectacular, it’s dangerous. About 2,000 people are killed worldwide by lightning each year. Hundreds more survive strikes but suffer from a variety of lasting symptoms, including memory loss, dizziness, weakness, numbness, and other life-altering ailments. Strikes can cause cardiac arrest and severe burns, but 9 of every 10 people survive. The average American has about a 1 in 5,000 chance of being struck by lightning during a lifetime.
Lightning's extreme heat will vaporize the water inside a tree, creating steam that may blow the tree apart. Cars are havens from lightning—but not for the reason that most believe. Tires conduct current, as do metal frames that carry a charge harmlessly to the ground.
Many houses are grounded by rods and other protection that conduct a lightning bolt's electricity harmlessly to the ground. Homes may also be inadvertently grounded by plumbing, gutters, or other materials. Grounded buildings offer protection, but occupants who touch running water or use a landline phone may be shocked by conducted electricity.

Thunderstorm
Thunderstorm, a violent short-lived weather disturbance that is almost always associated with lightning, thunder, dense clouds, heavy rain or hail, and strong gusty winds. Thunderstorms arise when layers of warm, moist air rise in a large, swift updraft to cooler regions of the atmosphere.
Thunderstorms can bring heavy rains (which can cause flash flooding), strong winds, hail, lightning, and tornadoes. Severe thunderstorms can cause extensive damage to homes and property. Lightning is a major threat during a thunderstorm.
Effects of Thunderstorm
Thunderstorms have wide-ranging effects on human life, including electrocution, shock, and even worse, deaths. They normally have a significant effect on the weather over an expansive area, with energy generated at the rate of at least 10,000,000 kilowatt-hours on an average.
They normally lead to local atmospheric instability, and just a single thunderstorm can produce lightning, catastrophic flooding, tornadoes, very strong winds, and hail. In fact, lightning is listed as one of the deadliest occurrences of a storm.
When a thunderstorm happens, animals would get hurt, buildings could be destroyed, and lighting may burn the vegetation, leaving animals with inadequate food. In light of the fact that thunderstorms are dramatic events, they can lead to psychological and emotional complications.
If you have a chronic illness, powerful emotions can sometimes result in the development of physical symptoms. They may aggravate an asthma attack, for instance, or make it more difficult to manage an arthritis flare.
It is also worth noting that thunderstorms have some positive effects. For instance, lightning creates the ozone layer from oxygen. It is the ozone layer that makes life possible on the earth’s surface. Otherwise, we couldn’t survive the sun’s ultraviolet radiation.
Moreover, lighting creates nitrate from nitrogen. Nitrate is a fertilizer essential for plants to grow and thrive on earth.

My Own Thoughts
Since i am living in the Philippines and we really have two seasons here, the summer and rainy seasons. We have always experiencing thunderstorms. These phenomenon being on tropical country is always an occurrence. So even when i was a child i have a trauma when it is raining very hard and you could hear the rumbling of thunders from a distance and the howling wind sometimes.
All we can do is always stay safe inside our houses, the safest place when you see the upcoming thunderstorm. It is very dangerous so we need to be always alert. Specially when there were stikes of lightning stay away from places which you could get hurt or worse the cause of your death. Even though thuderstorm has a good effect on our ozone layer and lightning bring nutrients to the plants still this phenomenon is dangerous. Thunderstorm brings so much damaged not only to people but also to our environment. When our trees are cut flashflood and landslides occur so i am asking that we should plant more trees so there will be ones will hold the soil. Let us start to protect this earth we are living, because this is our Only Home...
So once again i say thank you for reading and you are on the end of my article once more. Hope to see you on my next. Bless us all my dear friends. Thank you..

Lightning photography is really awesome. I was hoping I can get a decent shot when I had a dslr but I wasn't able to. I was afraid of thunder when I was a kid. My mom said I would hide under the bed lol!
