GOV. FINTIRI FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF GIREI COTTAGE HOSPITAL
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Friday flagged off construction of a new 60-bed capacity cottage hospital in Girei local government area as part of efforts of the present administration to revitalize the health sector in Adamawa.
This brings to four, the number of new cottage hospitals being constructed by the Fintiri led administration in the state.
Speaking during the ceremony at Sangere Futy Girei, Governor Umaru Fintiri said building the hospital has demonstrated practical manifestation of government’s relentless health reform in Adamawa.
According to the Governor, after realizing the importance of access to health facilities to the well-being of the society, his administration has decided to focus on the provision of first grade cottage hospitals in areas where they are required.
He said Girei occupies a strategic position of sharing the immediate neighbourhood with Yola the state capital as majority of the civil populace, who conduct their business in Jimeta reside in Girei and other catchment areas.
He revealed that government has approved the employment of one thousand, one hundred and thirteen technical health workers who will be deployed to the frontline of Health security in Adamawa State for years to come so as to bridging the manpower gaps in the health sector.
He expressed confidence that by the time the massive overhaul of primary and secondary health facilities in the state are completed, Adamawa State would have been made resilient and empowered enough to confront emerging Health challenges.
In his remark, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Professor Abdullahi Isa said the cottage hospital will cost government about one hundred and eighty million naira and called on the people to support the contractors.
In their separate contributions, the member representing Girei constituency Alhaji Muhammed Mutawalle and Commissioner of Livestock and Aquaculture Development Usman Yahaya Diyajo lauded Governor Umaru Fintiri for his achievements in the local government area.
In his vote of thanks, the Executive Chairman Girei local government council Mr Juda Amisa said the people of the area will continue to accord the Governor the support and loyalty he deserves to enable him continue with the good work he has started.
Highlight of the event was cultural dance display by some cultural groups.
