WAYS TO EARN ON SOCIAL MEDIA

It must be kept in mind that making money anywhere at all has always never been an easy endeavour, in a legal way, that is. This is why people have always tended to monetise whatever they can. The fact that people have always tried to eke out a living from every form of communication that has ever been developed gives credence to this assertion. In the same vein, it has been no different with the social media.

The following are ways by which social media can be utilised for income generation:

ACQUIRING INFORMATION

Information, they say, is power and it is no longer a news that information abounds on social media, genuine or fake. Your ability to sieve the kind of information you get on social media and use it to your own advantage can really go a long way in boosting your finances.

As a job seeker, there are a host of social media platforms such as LinkedIn where you can always get in touch with job opportunities based on the qualifications you have provided on your profile.

Also, for business owners, there are numerous helpful tips and business strategies posted in platforms like Medium, Nairaland YouTube, etc.

RUNNING ADS

Advertising on social media is the secret to moving a business forward and it is a secret that big companies and brands have been capitalising on for a long time. It is like the popular saying: 'Spend money to make money". Your products deserve all the attention it can get, not just products, your services and skills too. Are you a trader, a musician, a comedian or an artist? The biggest marketplace for you is the social media. Strut your stuff!

BLOGGING WHAT YOU DO

Whenever the word, Blogging, comes up, a lot of people get scared, thinking they have to be seasoned writers before they can run a blog. But that isn't true!

Blogs do not necessarily have to be lengthy write-ups requiring specialised knowledge in particular fields. There are incentivised social media platforms such as Publish0x, Hive, Minds, Voise, and others where users get paid for blogging about things that they are passionate about. Whether you are a writer or an artist, a musician or a comedian, a photographer or an artisan, you can simply earn passive income by blogging about what you do on these social media platforms.

Although the social media is mainly for interpersonal communication, it is a means of livelihood for a few people who know its value and are able to leverage it. As a matter of fact, BBC reported that Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande and Christiano Ronaldo made about a million dollars for each of their posts on Instagram in 2019.

That said, it should be noted that you do not necessarily need a large number of following before you can earn on social media. And as stated earlier, earning on social media is for all and sundry. This implies that you can leverage social media to your own benefit whether as a business owner, a student, a writer, an entertainer or an artist.

Thanks for reading. If you know of other ways by which social media can be monetised, kindly share in the comments. Thanks!
