Hello guys this is @Her-bert and first of all I would like to thank everyone for your time and support. In this article I'm going to highlight the roles of the youth in the development of the community and in turn the effects it will have on us and the world at large.

Across the world, most communities seek to put up measures to ensure development in their areas. Development is the process which does not happen in a day but takes years or months. In order to achieve development, there should be a holistic manner involving all stakeholders such as Government appointees, the youth,Civic society group and so on.

  • One major group of stakeholders who is often overlooked is the youth. The youth who are the manpower of the nation and the world at large and form about 70% of the population are usually considered. Despite several information about age bracket of the youth, they are the people who fall between the ages of 18 and 35. The youth has a very bid role to play in the developmental agenda of every community in diverse ways. Below are some of the activities the youth can do to ensure the development of the area.....

****To begin with, the youth can serve as pressure groups in the communities to push their developmental ambition. They try to infuence politics in the interest of the people in the community. Many a time, our local authorities take decision and implement some politics to favour themselves to the detriment of their respective communities. Therefore, the youth sometimes form pressure groups to champion a particular cause in the interest of the ordinary person. They put the authorities on their toes through dialogues or demonstrations. Some of the issues they raise are environmental, political and economic issues.***

***Also, the youth play an immense role in assisting N.G.O's in bringing development to deprived communities. Some communities lack resources and amenities such as potable water, electricity,libary.etc. the youth may also serve as agents of these non governmental organizations. Since the youth are energetic,of they are skilled, they can help those organizations to achieve their set targets for the development of communities.***

***Again,in some communities,it is often perceived that the elderly are always considered to be right, and that their decisions are always accepted. I beg to differ on this wrong assertion since the youth can play a major role in the decision -making process of the respective communities. They can give important contributions during discussions to help develop the community. If in that case, why are the youth neglected when it comes to taking important decisions affecting their various communities. Therefore, the youth play a significant role in decision making.***

***Last but not least, the youth may act as a tool for social change. Since the caliber of people who are in the youth age bracket are mostly students and workers, they are skilled, resourced and informed. They are abreast with current trends; therefore, they can help introduce new ideas to help develop the community. If the youth are motivated enough and are given the needed support, they can become effective leaders who will drive the community towards their developmental ambitions.***

To conclude, the youth has a significant role to play in the development of their community, therefore they need the support and encouragement of the elderly in order to effectively perform the roles..

In order for the community to be a better place, the youth (man power) must be involved to ensure the effectiveness in the Community's development...
