This is the second part of it. Where I am now going to raise the caption"The salary question". Suscribe, like and comment on this article for feedbacks. Thank you.

The salary question has been one of the most controversial and 'dreadful' aspects of an interview. Interviewees are often confused as to how to go about it; what amount is too much, and too little? There are a few guidelines we can explore on the subject. Let's have a brief look at them.

  • Dont initiate any discussions on salary

  • Allow your interviewers to initiate any discussion on salary

  • Reasearch on the amount people with similar qualifications and experiences in similar industry are paid

  • Dont lie about your salary in the current job

Now let's dive in....

  1. 'NEVER' initiate any discussions on salary.

Let's face it,what impression will you have of a would be employee who initiates a discussion on salary without your introduction of the subject? Will you not think that his or her greatest motivation for coming to work for you is the money? Indeed, the money is an important part of my the job process, but definitely not most important. The most important thing is how you are going to be of benefit to the company. It is every interviewee's desire to know how much he or she will be paid for the job. They want to know if it is attractive or not. As much as there is a craving to know, resistance temptation to ask.

Oftentimes, most interviewees ask about salary when given the opportunity to ask a question during the interview. As I said earlier, that question should not be about the salary. It should be about some of the relevant things that will help to send the company to greater heights. Ask about the job,not the salary.

  1. Allow your interviewers to initiate any discussion on salary

There is one philosophy I have always held when it comes to this issue regarding salary. As long as I do well in the interview and I am fit for the job at hand, I don't need to rush into a discussion on salary; the interviewers are duty-bound to bring it on. In situations like this. Just relax and see them introduce the subject and then jump in when a question is being asked.

The issue of salary will surely be a subject to discuss either at the interview,or later when you have successfully passed it. Until they initiate it, however, just hang in the balance, and wait for them to bring it on.

  1. Research on the amount people with similar qualifications and experiences in similar industry are paid

It is public knowledge of how much most professionals are paid depending on their level of academic qualifications, job experiences and industry.

With much knowledge in the field of expertise, and how much you will get paid, you will definitely get prepared for it.

Much of the information can be found on the internet. You can likewise ask a friend who works in a similar capacity. That way, you are more previewed to how much you should quote as your salary. It also prevents you from quoting a figure that is too high or too low.

Researching, one way to get that interview right!
  1. Don't lie about your salary in your previous or current job

Sadly, many people have resorted to this dishonest tactic to get the chance at a higher salary. What if it is found out that what you quoted wasn't true? It will give a negative signal to the interviewers and as such that might make that opportunity to get a job wasted.

When you are asked how much you earned in your previous job, there is no need to lie about it. More often than not, the salary for the job you are interviewing for has little or no bearing on your salary in the previous job. Every job comes with it's own salary expectations. Be truthful and say exactly what you earned in your previous job, or are earning in your current job.

Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoyed this edition. In my next edition I would be writing about financial management.

Stay safe.

Be original 💪.
