Music an art, a profession
Music has always been one of the biggest form of art on the globe since time memorial. It's currently the fasting season and there's a lot of stuff that i do everyday but I've had to drop. One of them is music, particularly my favorite which is rap. I've come to depend on music to calm me and clear my head.
Having to drop some of my favorite music particularly because of their lyrics fully made me think about what I've been listening to. Music as a form of art is not just some guy or group of guys making a bunch of sounds. it's more like a thought process of CREATIVITY, and the evolving technology we have handy nowadays has made music into more than just sounds and into life itself.
Musician A goes through a particularly traumatic experience and finds escape in the feel of the music, the sounds, the words. Musician B is in a happy phase in life, everything seems to be moving even better than anticipated, his lyrics will ooze happiness.
Depending on the targeted audience, it's more like a projection of emotions.
Human technology has grown so fast this decade and the past one that it's almost hard following up on our technological advancement. One thing that has also grown is the music industry.
Nigeria has perhaps the largest music scene in Africa, and over the years our brand of music the afrobeats has grown and travelled over the world. Big acts like Wizkid, Davido and the likes are one of the biggest in the scene presently. I know @Bisolammy is perhaps one of the hardest fans of Wizkid I know, which shows the level music can affect people.
Music as a profession is not a new thing, but today just about anybody can make a beat on their mobile devices and sing to it. Come to Nigeria my country and you'll understand a bit of what I mean, a country with a population of over 200 million people, it's no wonder it's a target market for any musician looking to break the African market. It is a game of numbers and one hit song means quite a lot of cash (a case study is that of the recent sensation on the streets Portable).
I still listen to music tho, but I've had to drop my fav which is rap particularly because of its rich history with swear words. Some of my favorites are J. Cole and Dave. On the African scene I love Wizkid, although I'm not a hard fan like my friend I mentioned earlier. But who knows I might be dropping my own music soon ๐๐.
To me music is an art and I appreciate all the producers and sound engineer working out there. You are not going unnoticed.
