It was located in modern day Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Yemen.
The Aksumite Empire is the oldest of the African kingdom.
2.The kingdom of Ghana (700ce- 1240ce).
Spread across what is now Mauritania, Senegal and Mali, it is commonly known as Wagadu.
The Kingdom of Ghana declined and cemented, when it became part of the Mali Empire, around the year 1240CE.
3.the Mali empire (1230ce-1670ce)
Spread across what is now De Gambia, Guinea Bisau, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal, it came after the Kingdom of Wagadu.
4.the songhai empire (1000ce-1591ce)
Known to be one of the largest states in African history, the Songhai Empire had a mention of one of Africa's most prominent cities, "Timbuktu," which was one of the most important learning centres in the region.
The West African kingdom was larger than Western Europe and comprises part of a dozen modern day nations, which includes Benin republic, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Guinea Bisau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger Republic, Nigeria, Senegal and De Gambia.
5.the Egyptian empire
The Egyptian rose during the cradle of the new kingdom, when the country got to the height of wealth, into national prestige and military might.
