Down with the king! 4-2

As dawn approached, they made no action to leave just yet. They were too lost in thought to even bother with anything. 

“We need to come up with something soon. Would you mind coming to my study one of these days? I might just be up to something” She asked hesitantly

“I don’t see how that would be a bother. I can easily sneak off for a few days. I just hope you have a good plan up your sleeves” he grinned cheekily at her before his attention turned to the rising sun

“I will eventually. Meet me at the arena front tomorrow morning” She said firmly

As soon as a few people from the village started leaving their homes, it was a sign for them to get back to the other side of the wall. Luckily his incantation was still in full effect and nobody noticed their presence. He could only take her as far as the wall because he knew people would start looking for him soon. 

“I’ll be seeing you tomorrow” Was all he managed to say when he finally undid the spell, and they bid their farewells for the time being. 

Audrey went home in a rush. She didn’t have time to waste. As soon as she was safely in her room, she started drafting plans that could work for both her and Cooper. Just one thing came to mind while she was finally sitting on her drawing table. What were Cooper’s abilities? She thought that if she was to make a plan, she at least needed to know what she could make use of, and what she could try to improve. One of those ideas was how to amplify his powers. When she saw him undo the incantation, earlier, she could see that it did tire him out after keeping them hidden for a few hours. 

If she were to amplify his abilities so that he would minimize his energy, it would be something impressive. A number of ideas were finally coming to her yet she knew that she definitely needed his presence so that they could pull the plan off. 

As if on cue though, Tinble knocked on her door, ready with her breakfast in hand.  “Dree, I have your food, come out here”

She peeked out of her door, glanced side to side before she pulled Tinble into her room “Okay, I have some unbelievable news to tell you!” She was ecstatic about all the things that went on in her head that very moment, and she knew that she couldn’t wait until tomorrow morning to tell somebody of those plans. “A witch I know will be staying with us tomorrow!” 

“What- will you tell mother?!?” He quickly placed the platter he brought on the drawing table, and he just lightly shook her by the shoulders “You’re inviting a witch here?!? Are you in your right mind?” 

“Look, what we know in history is all wrong” She wriggled out of his grasp and showed him a replica of the scroll she had managed to write down... Or what she remembered, at least “This was the real history we really had. We were fighting the wrong enemy all this time!” 

“You sound crazy right now. I can tell that you haven’t been sleeping so get some sleep and tell me when your witch friend actually shows up.” He said the last part sarcastically

 She could tell that he was also baffled by her news but she was sure that he would listen to her again when he’s calmed down by the evening. He never did though. 

She just waited and made plans for the following day. At the break of dawn, she was already out of the house, and on her way to the arena. She was greeted with the same smiling figure that she had been excited to see. 

“I hope you don’t mind all the questions I have prepared” She flashed him a cheeky grin and gestured for him to follow

“I’m used to it by now” He gave a light shrug while he trailed behind her. 

“How much energy do you use when you use your abilities?” 

It took a while for him to respond, and by the time he could think of an answer, they were already outside of her room “I think I use up a lot of energy but I just get really hungry after” 

“So food is your power source? That’s different from what I imagined” With a shrug, she climbed down the window with ease, followed by Cooper who she had to help climb down. 

“Where did you think we got our abilities from? We were born with it” He breathed a light chuckle before he paused to look around her room “You have… quite the messy space”

“I’m aware… I build most of the time” She gestures for him to take a seat on her bed as she removes her plans from her drawing table “So I thought… there might be a way to amplify your abilities? That’s why you need to tell me how your abilities to work” 

He was confused with how she represented things, It wasn’t messy, per se, yet machine plans were things he never could understand “Uhh... well, even we aren’t sure of where our abilities come from. We just kind of rely on nature. We get born with different abilities too” 

“Is there… a sort of similarity besides nature? Like… maybe a kind of science to it?” 

“We think there’s some part in our brain that gives us these abilities, and humans just don’t have that part. But it’s been forbidden for us to study our kind since it disrespects nature” 

She could only nod in understanding as she began drafting a few new things out on her desk. “Would you mind showing me your ability again? And maybe other people’s abilities? I have something I want to know.”

Over the hours that Cooper stayed in her room, they managed to have a deeper understanding of both sides. Cooper had a better understanding of human technology… or at least the most basics of it, while Audrey gained a shallow understanding of the fundamental laws of nature and magic. So when Cooper had to leave, he left with a promise to introduce her to more witches the next time that they would meet. 

Next short break, I guess I'll be going for the motivation prompt because I do love these prompt challenges tbh
