HENRY VIII APPOINTED KING OF ENGLAND

April 21, 1509

At the age of 18, King Henry VII's son Henry Tudor was entrusted with a heavy responsibility as king of all England, when his father died on this day in 1509. Henry VII's supposed heir Prince Arthur died early at the age of 15, thus passing to Henry Tudor the inheritance of the royal throne, as well as the wife of the late prince Catherine of Aragon of Spain. Henry Tudor and Catherine of Aragon were also married on 11 June of the same year, and on 23 June, Henry Tudor was crowned King Henry VIII, and his Spanish wife as Queen Consort of England.

Although he was one of the great Kings of England during the Tudor dynasty, he was also one of the controversial monarchs who ruled England. While he opposed the emerging Reformation of Christianity in Europe initiated by Martin Luther, Henry VIII's conflict with the Catholic church severed England's ties with the Catholic Church, citing the disapproval of then Pope Clement VII. to approve the separation of Henry VIII from Queen Catherine. Henry VIII could not be given a son, who was Queen Catherine's only role as the king's wife. They had just given birth to a daughter who would be the first female ruler of England, Mary. At first the Pope only opposed Henry VIII's marriage to his brother's wife because it was against the doctrine of the church, and now the gap between England and the Catholic church has widened because of the Pope's refusal to allow it. the request of Henry VIII's separation from Catherine of Aragon. Later, with the establishment of the Church of England or Anglican Church and the appointment of Henry VIII as head of this church, England's relationship with the authority of the Pope and Rome was completely severed.

Henry VIII was best known for his marriage

he had six women; Catherine of Aragon whom he divorced, Anne Bolyne whom he married after divorcing the former but later beheaded by him, Jane Seymour whom he gave her a son Edward but Jane also died after giving birth, Anne of Cleves whom he divorced him because he didn’t look good here, Catherine Howard cousin of Anne Bolyne whom he also beheaded for infidelity, and Catherine Parr who cared for old Henry until widowed. Henry VIII had three children of his six wives, Mary, Elizabeth and Edward.

Henry VIII can also be considered a man full of contradictions; a scholar supporter who kills scholars, and devotee of the luxurious arts. He was also a patron of sports, and fond of fancy shows of knights, and fought in futile battles which plunged England into debt, and killed any of his officers who hindered his leadership. However, it is also undeniable that Henry VIII did much to pave the way for the reformation of the monarchical government, and is considered by contemporary historians in England to be one of the most charismatic leaders in England. Henry VIII's regime as King of England lasted 37 years and was succeeded by his son Edward after he died at the age of 58 on January 28, 1547.

Why History?

What is the significance of our study of history? Does it have an effect on our lives today? The truth is that there is. It is important to know the history of our past so that we can understand what will happen in the present. We can also learn the difference between then and now by comparing events. Take for example people, places and equipment or things. Back then, people did not know much about what was going on in the world. It's just like what the real shape of the world is, why are there events that are mysterious to them that are actually only natural. People back then gave meaning to the things that were happening around them.

Perhaps also out of their curiosity, they discover objects or equipment that help them to make their lives easier. It can also be considered an ancient technology. Just like today, people now know a lot when it comes to technology. Using computers, cellphones, or high -tech things. I guess all the work is now using technology. You used to just wwalkor ride animals used for transportation, but now there are vehicles. You can pay for its service, and if you are able or rich, you can buy your own.

They are just one of the importance of why we need to know history.
