We humans have many goals during our lifetime and work towards achieving them. We strive to achieve our many goals, big or small, similar or different. While some of them are easily achieved, some may take time to achieve, or we have goals that we cannot achieve and experience disappointment. Although each of these purposes has a certain importance for us, the most important one is our life purpose.

When individuals are asked to have a good job, to earn money, to be married and to be happy, to travel the world, many wishes can be listed. In fact, these are not life goals, but rather goals or plans in life. Life purpose encompasses these, of course, but actually goes beyond them. What an individual should learn in his spiritual journey after coming to the world and all the experiences that will bring him awareness while walking this path constitute his life purpose.

After completing the lower levels in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, we strive for the "self-actualization" step at the top of the pyramid. Many of us question our existence and therefore pursue our purpose in life. We want the life we live and all the circumstances we have to be fulfilling and meaningful. However, we often experience the discomfort of waking up to the same cycle every day. We are all searching for a purpose.

Mark Twain said, “There are two important days in your life; one the day you were born, the other the day you discover why you were born.”

Life purpose is the individual's own personal purpose. We all have a purpose for existence in this world. Life purpose is also what we enjoy doing, what we are at peace with, what makes us feel good. When we lead a life in line with our life purpose, we get the chance to have the most important gains of life, such as happiness, joy and peace, together with the feeling that we are doing something right.

Purpose in life may be for a specific job or profession such as singing, dancing, transferring what you know/learned to others, studying medicine, or general things such as making people you meet smile. While we are moving in a direction suitable for our purpose in life in the flow of life, we may shift to a different business area and find ourselves doing a completely different job than what we do. Also, life purpose may not be a fixed subject, nor does it need to be a specific occupation.

Life purpose is the most precious secret that will keep you at peace. A way in which you can give yourself with your whole being; It is a way that has nothing to do with any material wealth. When you can look at life holistically, you can realize that it is not the names of the deeds and all the other labels that matter, but the spiritual experiences you have had while doing them. When we live in accordance with the reason we came to the world, the work we do, the decisions we make, the daily flow of life make us spiritually satisfied, happy and feel peaceful.

What is Life Purpose and What Is It Not?

Life purpose is what gives you a deep sense of peace and fulfillment.

It is in harmony with your abilities and energy. It's often linked to what you do best. You will not have much difficulty in realizing your purpose, because some of your abilities have developed and come to the fore in order to achieve this goal.

You learn new things, gain new experiences, and realize that you are improving as you realize your life purpose and progress on that path. Sometimes, even if you have difficulties because you believe that you can do it, you are the only obstacle to being able to do it.

When you start a life in harmony with your life purpose, you can see directions and signs that motivate you and show that you are on the right path. Because with your soul, you are in harmony with the whole of the universe. As you walk on your path, you realize with surprise that everything moves in harmony and that the stones fall into place one by one.

If you live a life in line with your life purpose, you will be beneficial to both yourself and others. In this way, you will benefit from the whole.

Something that is harmful in any way cannot be part of life's purpose.

Maybe you think that you cannot find your life purpose, and even if you do, you are too late to achieve or achieve your purpose. You have to live with the stress created by all these feelings and thoughts. But this is not the way to find your purpose in life. There are some misconceptions about life purpose that you may have in your mind.

First of all, purpose is not something that can be found by searching. A 20-year-old university student and a 40-year-old dissatisfied employee both seek that energy, that magic touch that will give meaning to their lives. Unfortunately, these searches often end in disappointment. Life purpose is not really what you seek and find, but rather what you build. Whatever you do, how you live, try to make what you do meaningful and make sense out of it in order to realize your purpose. To reveal your purpose, focus on aspects of your job that are meaningful and can offer you purpose. When you realize this meaning and act by taking it to your center, there will be positive returns for you.

According to the way the universe works, everything is an energy and energy is not fixed, it is in constant motion. Any form of energy you have comes back to you. Whatever you have and spread around you; affects you in a similar way. In other words, if its quality in the energy dimension is positive, it will return positively, and if it is negative, it will appear in your life in a negative form.

That's where life purpose is out there, that positive energy you feel. Whatever you are doing in your life right now; If it doesn't really bring you peace and joy, that is, if it doesn't fill you with positive energy, then stopping, reviewing the existing, and refocusing can help.

Thinking that there is only one life purpose is another mistake. Even people who have done very important work have had other purposes throughout their lives. You may have various goals related to different areas of your life. These purposes may include diversity in relation to your job, hobbies, family, children, faith, work or circle of friends. Instead of wasting your time searching for that one purpose that will bring meaning to your life, build your own purpose.

The belief that the purpose does not change over time is also one of the mistakes. You hear that there are many people who quit their job in corporate life and turn their hobby into a business. In fact, whether or not you change your job or profession, there will always be phases in your life where your source of meaning changes: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood. Just because your goals are changing doesn't make you inconsistent or greedy. It is perfectly normal to have more than one meaning and purpose in your life and that these change over time. Your 20-year-old goal may be different from your 40-year-old goal because your 20-year-old was quite different from your current age.

If you want to find your purpose in life “How do I find my purpose?” question is useless. The most effective thing is to try to make sense of whatever you are doing while building your purpose, to allow different sources of meaning. In addition, it is not to be disturbed by the fact that they change over time.

It was such a detailed and inspiring article I must say. I am of the view that goals change with the passage of time. If it was your goal to build yourself a house in your youth then when you are in you 50’s you will have a goal to settle down your life and enjoy your life with your grand kids. So yes goals change but it order to achieve them one needs to be consistent

I agree with you, people should have a goal in everything. We should not waste our days. If we are determined on something, we should not give up on it so easily, and thank you for nice comment :)
