Once upon a time, there was doubt in Imam Zahid's heart about the truth of the teaching which said that all fortune came from God the Most Rich, not from the rulers who governed the country, nor did it come from businessmen who pay the salaries of all their employees every month.
Imam Zahid's doubts stem from his observations of the people around him. He saw that there were people who worked casually, but not too long ago they were already rich. On the other hand, there are many people who work hard day and night but always live in poverty.
Imam Zahid actually thought that that was the greatness of God. That is clear evidence that every item of his fortune is the one who governs and determines it. That means, no matter how hard people work, if He doesn't pour out his fortune then everything will be in vain. That person will never be rich. On the other hand, no matter how lazy a person is, it is possible to suddenly become rich if God pours out a mountain of fortune on him through unexpected means.
However, Imam Zahid then thought that if that was the case, then God was unjust. The period of pouring out so much luck to lazy people, and otherwise only shedding a little fortune on those who have worked hard. In fact, he firmly believed that God is Just and Most Wise!
Intrigued, Imam Zahid retreated into a cave at the top of a mountain that has never been touched by humans. He deliberately didn't bring any provisions. “I want to know how God will feed me in a place that no one knows. I wanted to know how good luck God poured out when there was only me in that place, "he said to himself, lying on the cold floor of the cave and soon he fell asleep.
As narrated by Ahmad Najieh in his book entitled "50 True Stories", soon a group of lost trading caravans appeared. At the same time it rained heavily, so the caravan took shelter into the cave and of course they saw Imam Zahid sleeping soundly alone. The Faith himself actually knew that many people were coming, but he did not open his eyes and pretended to be asleep.
Several people from the caravan then tried to wake him up, but Imam Zahid did not open his eyes nor make a sound. So the wealthy merchants thought that the man who lived alone was very tired because of hunger. They then thrust food and drink into his mouth, but Imam Zahid remained silent. The traders' suspicions were getting stronger, it was believed that the person was dying so that his nose was no longer able to smell the smell of the food being handed out.
They then agreed to force open his mouth and put a piece of bread plus a few drops of drink. Treated in such a way, even Imam Zahid could no longer hold back his laughter. “I'm actually fine, not starving like you think. I just want to know how God will give fortune to each of His servants wherever they are, "he said.
That is, the fortune from God the Most Rich is always bestowed on anyone and in a way that cannot be predicted or even engineered. Fortune can be in the form of rewards from work, it can also just appear without us knowing why.
That the fortunes of each person are not the same is a real sign that God Almighty Determines Everything. Fortune is not always compatible with hard work or laziness. The problem is, wealth or poverty is not just a matter of how much or less fortune God bestows, but also as a test to those concerned: can the rich stay normal and share their wealth with those who have none? And, can the poor be grateful for their poor existence by still remembering the greatness of God Almighty?
