A few months ago I joined an online skill development workshop.
There I learned various tasks and tips of Microsoft Office software.
These 3 things I've learned from that skill development workshop.
1)How to organize a fruitful presentation
2)How to reach more audience and how to keep attention of the audience
3)How to create an out of the box presentation
In this article I will share some of my learned Microsoft PowerPoint tricks.
Using these techniques you can make your presentation more interactive, effective and clean to your audience. So let's get started.
1)Before you start making slides, note down the points in the notebook.
If you point the ideas in the notebook on the main topic, you can think more about them.
If you start making slides without any proper idea from the beginning than if any mistake occurs there is no chance to correct it. Make a proper plan before hitting the road.
So even if it sounds a bit strange to hear, you have to draft it in the notebook before the whole presentation.
That is, whatever is in the main slide such as: headline, main topic, detailed discussion has to be written in the notebook first.
A presentation usually consists of three parts:
1)Starting slide based on the main topic
2)The middle part
3)Summary of the whole discussion
Before you sit down at the laptop, you need to sort out these tasks especially where the presentation starts and where it ends.
2)A title slide that draw attention or create interest inside the viewer:
The title will indicate that the audience will learn something new from this presentation.
For example: Why does your business organization need an auditor?
Starting with such a question creates an idea that the audience will know something new.We are always interested to know about something new.
Since you are starting your presentation with a question, the audience will understand that the rest of your presentation has the answer.
They will enjoy your presentation with full attention.
3)Avoid any kind of dazzling designs and use simple designs instead
Usually the viewer wants to learn, understand or know something new. Due to the use of eye-catching designs, the viewer's attention shifts from the main presentation to the design.
Always use basic designs or simple backgrounds and use the same design on each slide.
You can use some basic fonts such as: Calibri, Arial, etc. These are very easy to read and work on all computers.
Use only one point per slide:
Using too many points on a single slide makes it difficult for the viewer to understand and the main point becomes complicated.
If the viewer or audience does not understand then the whole presentation will fail.
Points can be written in small words such as: Each point can be written in three to five words.
4)Using pictures related to the main subject
This is the skeleton of your presentation and can make your presentation more visually pleasing and interesting. However, be careful not to use exaggerated pictures.
Using graph charts such as having an auditor in a business organization has increased the profit margin of that organization by 18% at the end of the year.
This is a great and effective process. The audience can understand more about your original message.
5)The more you practice, the more you will be proficient at that task
The slides you make are not the main subject of the presentation only thing matters is how you are presenting them.
You've made a lot of good slides but if you couldn't say anything while standing in front of the audience than all your efforts will go in vain.
So you have to practice the whole presentation on your own.
And it will be best if you can practice using everything including your laptop, microphone system. Your talking inability will come down to zero.
You can record it while you are practicing. Then when you listen, the mistakes will be caught very easily. You will be able to correct them.
5)It should end with a message
The last slide will be your main message. There will be a summary of the whole presentation.
That means you are coming up with a solution after a presentation.
The audience will expect a solution from you in the end. For example, hiring an auditor will increase your company's revenue by another 13 percent.
The above points I learned from that skill development workshop and then used in my various presentations and found success.
These points multiply the value of the presentation. When everyone is following an traditional boring method, be one to stand out of the rest and make your presentation more fruitful. I will write more about these amazing learning hacks!
