God and the Pandemic

"If God really exist, why He allowed this pandemic to happen?" If God is loving to His people, why it seems that He don't even care if they suffer because of this corona virus?" Why would a merciful and powerful God allows sufferings and difficulties to people?" -these are some questions that comes to many people's mind when all that is happening all over the world came because of this virus..

Many people came to a point of questioning and doubting God's existence because of this global pandemic we are currently experiencing.. But the real question is, will we just accept all the good things from God, and deny all the bad things? Just as what Job told his wife when the experience all the loss he had encountered. "Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
-Job 2:10

We can never question God's sovereignty in every circumstances we are in. We can never deny the fact that in everything, in good times and bad, God is still God. We can ask God why we experience these bad things but we can never deny His sovereignty.

  • There are two reasons why people suffer.

    1. Because of sin and wicked ways or disobedience to God.

      - In everything we do, whether it is good or bad, there are always reward or consequence. We cannot escape consequence, just like what happened to David when he committed adultery. But the good thing is, God will always give us the chance to repent and be forgiven. And the best thing we can experience in every consequence is we learn from those mistakes.

    2. Because God wants to test our faith

      - They said, "all genuine must be tested", so is our faith. There will always be testing of faith like what Job or Abraham experienced. And, the moment we pass this test, there will always be reward from the Lord. Testing will always purify our faith, like a gold that needs to be put in fire to reveal its true value.

This pandemic may be, God's punishment to us, or a testing of faith. We may not know what is the real purpose of this pandemic, but one thing I am sure of, this pandemic has taught us many lessons. People learned the importance of love and care for others, they have learned to share what they have and to help others and became selfless. Unity and humanity was revealed and seen all over the world.

May this pandemic will not draw us away from God, but rather it will strengthen our faith in Him. God is good even in this time of pandemic and uncertainties. instead of questioning God's sovereignty and existence why not trust Him and put our confidence on Him. We loves us, and He know far better than us.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

God is always true to His promise in Jeremiah 29:11

“'For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”

He knows what He is doing, He has a good and better plan even in our sufferings. We can always trust Him, cause He promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Glory and praises be to GOD, forever and ever!
