Deer:The amazing Creation

ANIMALS are animals of extraordinary beauty and grace. Large, peaceful eyes scan the sides of the creatures. The short, shiny coat is flat and thus helps the deer to appear elegant. Whether standing, running or jumping, this slender, leggy creature never looks strange or out of place.

Deer antlers are definitely a trademark of deer. Usually they only have males or deer. But when it comes to reindeer and caribou, deer antlers crown the heads of both men and women. However, Chinese water deer and Asian musk deer do not have any.

Unlike antlers, which are actually layers of hard skin, deer antlers are bones. Deer living in temperate zones remove them in winter and plant new ones in early summer. When it comes to deer in the tropics, vultures can roam around and grow new ones in different seasons.

The new horns are soft and covered with fine skin from which short, fine hairs grow. This skin with fine hair is known as "velvet". Eventually, blood stops flowing through the skin that covers the deer antlers. In this case, the skin becomes dry and the deer scratches it off the ground or against trees or bushes.

The younger the deer, the smaller and smaller the deer antlers. The animal can develop its first pair of horns at the age of one or two.

What exactly are the horns used for? Many naturalists believe they are primarily used for fighting over friends and also play a role in determining the range of deer. However, it should be noted that hornless deer have no problem being recognized by their large calves. There is also some evidence that the horns play an insignificant role in serious battles. Therefore, there may be other reasons for deer antlers.

The International Wildlife Encyclopedia comments on a recent theory: “Sightings of red deer indicate that they seem to suffer from heat in summer. They are active at night and spend a lot of time photographing. Stonehouse's theory is that, because velvet is rich in blood vessels, antlers act as a heater in the summer and measurements show that the temperature on the surface of the antler increases when the deer is active. During the summer, when deer feed, they build up a thick layer of fat, so some pathways are needed for the heat to dissipate. The deer does not need these heaters because the developing fetus uses enough energy to suckle. Horns are awkwardly designed for combat or signaling, so this theory seems to provide a more plausible explanation for their function, with horns being used secondarily for combat and signaling. ""

The ability and speed of the jumping deer is remarkable. The powerful thigh muscles of the deer allow for big jumps and fast runs. A mule deer can travel a distance of 7.6 meters in a large radius. This deer can also jump to a height of around 2.4 meters and run at a speed of 56 kilometers per hour. White-tailed deer are known to jump twelve meters, and the maximum long jump is believed to be even greater.
