Have you experienced strong storm or typhoon?
Oh wait, is there any difference between the two? What about a hurricane?
Here's what I have when I tried to ask my friend, Google.
I never thought I could get the chance to still create an article after what happened.
December 17 was a nightmare.
We received some news that Typhoon Odette became a Super Typhoon and our place was raised to signal number 5. I already bought some canned goods, flashlights and rice. We were advised to prepare and some of our neighbors living near the sea were advised to evacuate.
For us, we decided to stay at home since I believe we can just get through it but at 7pm the wind blew so loud and strong that it made our house tremble. I felt like the whole house will be taken by the wind. We can hear some roofs falling harshly in some areas and we were afraid our roof would also be detached due to such a strong wind. I prayed and prayed in silence while the whole time we had to stand by the window despite getting wet just to protect my children.
When I woke up this is what I witnessed. Our kitchen and laundry area was wrecked. Plates were broken and other utensils were all over the place. All our clothes are wet and til now we have not done washing them all. We do not know where to start.
No Electricity
Estimated 1 month before the electricity will be back. Most of our posts were down and VECO (electricity provider) needed more manpower to fix everything.
People are panicking and going to places with charging stations. Some even bought solar panels and would let neighbors charge their mobile phones with fee.
No Signal
Network signal was down for the first 48hrs. We then found out that in some areas where we gotta travel 1-2hrs does have a signal so we decided to travel almost everyday just to update our family members.
Scarcity of Water, Food and Gasoline
Here's a long que of vehicles in a certain gasoline station. This is how it looks like daily since December 17.
This is the same scenario when you go look for a water refilling station or ATM Machine. You gotta stand in line for 6-10hrs and if worse comes to worst gas may ran out of stock or atm may go offline due to network not being stable or may ran out of cash.
It is the worst experience ever!
In addition to this, some people are hoarding! The audacity of these people who would buy many goods especially water then resell it x2-x3 of its original price!
I wanted to scream!!!
The Government gave warnings to these abusive individuals but then that was all they do, caught and warn people.
NO HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT JUS YET! NO RELIEF GOODS AT LEAST.
The most unfair part is we are not even sure if the NATIONAL GOVERNMENT IS AWARE WITH OUR SUFFERINGS!
One bad things about being a tax payer here in PH. If there is any calamity they will prioritize those who does not have work and would tell you that you do not need help because you can still continue working or because you have an income! Without even thinking that we are the one paying taxes while other people just depend in the Government without exerting effort in looking for a job!
...end thoughts...
HELP! CEBUANOS NEED HELP!
Laban lang tayo, Glez ha. Magpakatatag ka dyan at makakaraos din tayo sa sitwasyon nato. Keep safe ka dyan and god bless. Merry Christmas po sa inyo mam.
