The greatest love in the history of Mankind.
What would you define as the greatest love of all time?
We have seen lots of love stories like Romeo and Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, and many others, it is sad to see that these stories mean a lot more than the greatest love story in the history of mankind.
Did I hear someone mention the Titanic?
Yes, it was a great love story but would you have compared a man who gave up his life for the world to someone who gave up his life for one. There is a huge difference because Christ proved his love for all, while the other proved his love for one.
I have seen lovers tell each other that "I can lay my life for you", but deep down, it is not true. As it stands now, would you lay your life down for the sins of your husband, wife, fiancee, boyfriend, or girlfriend?
As high as I would rate a mother's love, I am sorry to say that it wouldn't still match the greatest love of all time because it is the biggest sacrifice a man would make not for any personal benefit but for the benefit of others. Comparing a mother's love with Christ's love are two different things, is there a mother who will give her life up for the sins of other children?
Today we define love as care, support, and many other things but the real definition for me is the sacrifice which was what Christ did for us. How many of us can lay our lives down for the world knowing full well that everyone would continue to enjoy their lives once we are gone?
I bet no one but one man did it, have you ever thought it was easy for him?
Many years back, I was having a conversation with someone and he claimed that Christ was able to give his life for us because he was born of the spirit and I reminded him of how he tried to avoid that big sacrifice in the book of Luke 22:42.
He just knew he had to do it because the fate of humanity was hanging on him, if he didn't do that I can't imagine what agony and despair they would be in today.
It wasn't easy for him as well, can you imagine what it feels like to have a big nail tearing through your bones and tissues, the beating, the crown of thorn placed on his head, he had to carry that heavy cross despite being in that condition.
Thinking about Christ's death is something that I honestly try to avoid because it makes me break down emotionally, I can't imagine someone going through all that pain because of mankind. He died so that we might be saved, but it looks like he died for nothing judging from the current situation of the world.
That sacrifice wasn't for his glory, he practically died for our sins. He gave his life in exchange for us to be saved, in exchange for us to live an eternal life after death. Whenever I read through Matthew 27, I just can't stop myself from shedding tears because Christ suffered for the sins he never committed and that made his death the greatest love in the history of mankind.
Surprisingly, that death is nothing to many people out there because if it does, we wouldn't be seeing a lot of things happening out there. In as much as I will believe them to be the end time signs, I want to believe again that the world has proven not to recognize his sacrifice in any way.
If you think otherwise, why would people do away from his teaching? Why would people kill one another because of wealth and power? Why would we oppress others with what we have? Why aren't we loving our neighbors? Why are we so obsessed with fornication and adulteries?
Why are people waging war against one another?
None of this would be happening if everything he went through meant something to us and the worse part of it is not believing or accepting him as your Lord and Savior.
You must give him a place in your heart because it would be terrible to face all the troubles in the world and still have no peace in the afterlife.
Some sacrifices are just beyond words, and we can't describe the purity and the noble cause behind them, expect being thankful.
