Miss Joy sighed as she read another rape case on the Internet, she is a single mother to a beautiful daughter who is just five years of age. She got pregnant during her secondary days and decided to keep the child, she never allowed it to get into her way of being successful in life.
She worried every day about her daughter's safety in a world where terrible things are becoming the new normal and to make it worse, victims end up becoming laughing stock while the culprit roams about freely as long as they know the influential people in the society. She was more concerned about the fact that her career is making her daughter get a very small portion of her attention but she believed that everything was for the child, the poor girl spends most of her life at the daycare.
Joy has been receiving several advances from different guys but nobody wants to be the husband to a single mother and a doctor. The stigma on her profession was that people believe that they are always busy especially when there is an emergency, which makes them care less about family.
After a long wait, a man who would love her for who she is came into her life and they got married after a short period. At first, he wasn't happy about the kid but he finally accepted the child to live with them after several discussions but he gave himself a good gap to the girl who clocked 10 years few months after their first wedding anniversary.
Yinka, the husband is the son of the President of the Medical practitioners in the country. He was into politics and he owned the biggest hospital in the state, Joy works as one of the head doctors in the same hospital.
Joy was glad her daughter could call someone a father, she always made all of them spend time together when on work leave. At a point, the husband started showing this fatherly love to the little girl and they soon became fond of each other.
A few years after, Yinka started complaining about Mary not been able to produce a child. She didn't see it as an issue because she was obsessed with her job, she didn't have time for her daughter who turned 13 that year. She was growing fast that she started menstruating and her mom didn't know, her stepfather was the one who guided her on how to go through the menstrual days the first time.
The poor girl became so close to him that she would tell him things her mom was too busy to listen to, she would sleep in his room when mom is gone for the night shift. Her mother didn't take time to teach her the do's and don't of the stage she has reached in life.
It got to the stage, she would walk around the house with just pants and breast tubes, she was so free around him and he acted like it was normal, he even teases her and they play rough sometimes.
On this fateful day, while playing as usual. The young girl's nipple slipped out because her tube was intentionally shifted by her stepfather, the girl was carried away and didn't notice it.
He stylishly touched and started caressing her, she felt uncomfortable but he assured her that he was just helping her to sleep. She eventually fell asleep with her head and his lap, he took her to his room as the sleep got deeper.
To cut the story short, he raped her. The young girl cried because she was hurt, he consoled her and made her understood that her mom must not know what was going on. She agreed not to tell but she did because she was feeling a deep pain in her abdomen.
The mother checked and saw that everything she said was true and she confronted the husband immediately, he denied it and left the house in anger. She went to her father-in-law immediately since she didn't know Yinka's whereabouts but Yinka already called his dad and confessed his sin.
His father knew that the issue would affect his political career so he pretended not to know anything since it wasn't the first time his son would be raping young girls. Joy came and threatened the family, the father-in-law calmed her down and starting saying stories.
Among the rubbish he said was that Yinka had Paedophiles, a condition that makes him attracted to kids but that didn't work on her. She was about living in anger when he threatened her that if the news should leak out, she would lose her job, her license as a doctor, and even pay with her life and daughter's life.
Joy got scared but didn't show it, she intended to go to the station but after giving it a second thought she decided to keep shut since no one else knew about it except her daughter, husband, and father-in-law.
Aside from the threat, she didn't want her daughter face on papers and the internet, she felt it was going to be an everlasting stigma for the young girl.
What a shame!!
Why would a mother place so much importance on her career more than her child?
There is no reason that justifies a rape incident and it is crime that should result in death for the culprit but it is the other way round in our society today, the rapist goes about doing their devilish duties knowing that they have power over the law.
Connections to people in the higher authorities make them walk out of the mess without a scratch and sometimes, the blame is shifted back on the victims and they eventually became an object of mockery in the society. It is becoming a trend because we read about it happening in the world every day, a lot of males out there have sold their souls to the devil and they don't see anything in inflicting pain on young girls.
Another thing that pisses me off is the fact that there are different medical terms they use to protect culprits of rape cases when it has to with influential people, the fact remains for me that whoever attempts to rape is in his right sense and shouldn't be protected by any silly terms. The same mental disorder that has made him rape should have made him commit suicide or eat bottles. It is time we stop encouraging the shit of foolish excuses of someone being mentally ill or having this attraction to kids.
Some of these girls live to tell the stories and share their agony with the world while some end up dead and their stories would never reach the public, neither of the two is good and it is why we must teach our children especially the female about their relationship with people.
Parents, we must educate our kids our sex education. Don't wait until they are adults, let them understand what they shouldn't do with others, teach them limits, make them set boundaries that mustn't be crossed by someone of the same sex or opposite sex.
These things go a long way in their lives especially when they are far away from reaching out to you for help.
I encourage them to be taught self-defense, the world has become a cruel place to live in.
Sweeping rape cases under the carpet would only encourage the culprit to hurt other girls, you shouldn't be threatened. The things you are silent about today could come to hurt your child in the future.
A lot of women today come out to share their experiences and I wonder why the older generation never tackled this, probably things wouldn't have gotten this bad in the world today.
Above all, I pray such evil won't befall us, and be careful about the people you entrust your kids with.

What a world! And the mother failed to be a mother to her child. I will try to be the mother that my daughter needs, the one who will protect her. I will teach her what she has to know. I want her to know self-defence. My kids will be my priority not my career and reputation.
