I intend to write about the challenges the future of the world is facing and this might take me few days to cover because I will be writing on the challenges one after the other to avoid too lengthy posts.
I am certain some of us would be wondering what I meant by the future having some challenges that could affect it, I am referring to children all over the world because they are the future.
It is disheartening to see that the situation of the world having so much effect on kids around the world and the issue of Malnutrition gives me so much concern because it has eaten deep among children. Many people don't see these as a big problem because their kids are eating whatever they want whenever they like, we have forgotten that when we talk about the future, it isn't just about our kids alone.
Don't they have parents?
I have seen people who blame parents for malnutrition but I want you to know that aside from parents having too many kids that they can't cater for, there are lots of displaced kids across the world who are starving. Death of parents, war, natural disaster, and terrorism are key factors to the rising cases of malnutrition in the world today and these are causes beyond human control.
These children have no hand in why terrible things are happening in different countries or why they are experiencing malnutrition because as parents, we make most decisions for them and it is so unfortunate that our decisions are haunting these kids.
Malnutrition is one of the things challenges the future is struggling with and as I have said earlier millions of children are exposed to malnutrition in the world today, its negative effects can be disastrous to the children.
If you care to know.
You do be surprised to know 1/3 of the food produced in the world annually ends up getting spoilt wasted when there are millions of kids who are suffering from malnutrition. Here in my country, I have seen kids that would pick from the rich men's dustbin just to fill their belly.
What is the government doing?
Lately, I have discovered that I dislike bringing government in my solution to any problem affecting a large number of people around the world. Understandably, the government has failed us in so many areas but we are not helping matters if we keep waiting for a miracle from some set of people that don't care about our existence.
The fact is that everything cannot be done by the government, we also have roles to play as a citizen of every country.
I ask myself why waste food if I have enough?
Why don't I share with people who don't have or have less than average?
With my little time on earth, I have seen people that would rather let it waste than sharing with people because they wanted to be seen as a god.
I had an experience sometime this year, a boy was searching through a waste drum and he started picking out clothes that are still good. He was really happy and I was wondering why the owner thrashed them instead of helping people with it.
This is the same way food is been wasted just because of selfishness and lack of love for the people lacking around us.
God said in His commandments that " we should love our neighbors as ourselves" I believe he knows what the world is going to look like today that was why he gave that commandment.
Giving and sharing with the needy is part of the love God was talking about in his commandments, I wonder how people feel comfortable when they see a fellow human starving when they have enough. You only see people doing such good probably when they are trying to contest for a particular position in the country. Sometimes people even go around with cameras while helping people with food, it is fine if you are using the pictures or videos as proof of your charity or to inspire people to do the same but trying to use it for some selfish reasons is extremely bad.
Effect of Malnutrition
Malnutrition has a bad effect on both the physical and mental growth of a child. Malnutrition simply means when a person does not get the essential nutrients for the body due to lack of food or poor diet.
A child suffering from malnutrition will have poor physical growth, a body without proper vitamins will surely have some health challenges, they are easily exposed to germ and diseases which could end up leading to death. Some food is meant to keep our mental state balanced, they keep the mind and brain active.
What happens to children who can't get those needed/essential foods for the body?.
It is time for us to change our orientation about giving people things most especially food. Don't do it because of reward, do it because you are protecting the future from every possible risk that can make it bad like today.
There is joy in giving and sharing when it is done from the heart. For the first time, I think we can't let the government do everything so we won't regret that we didn't do anything to help when we had the opportunity and Resources.
Every child needs to be fed between 65% to 70% even if not up to a hundred. As an individual or group, I believe that together we make the world better and we can put smiles on kids' faces regardless of their race, tribe, or whatever difference we have between us.
I want to appreciate everyone who has been into the project of putting a smile on kid faces, Almighty God will never cease showering your blessings.
Thanks for reading
The government can try no doubt, but we as individuals should try also to feed the hungry and helpless one if we can. God is the rewarder of such efforts , its a smart investment.
