Why students lack seriousness in schools 2
Failures in schools might sometimes be from the students or the lecturers or from the parents of the students themselves. Since university is a complex place where many things are interwoven together, sometimes both the lecturers and the students contribute to students' failure in schools. In the recent article I mentioned some of the reasons why students may fail in school or lack seriousness. There are still many reasons why students tend to be not too serious with their academics pursuit which includes the following;
1. INADEQUATE MOTIVATION.
This kind of motivation can be seen in a many different ways. Sometimes students may like internal motivation to continue in schools. In the real sense of it, students in universities are now adults or in stage of adulthood and adults are driven by internal motivation. If a student is not motivated towards academics, he or she may not be so serious with school and studies in general and may ultimately fail. Some students dreams and aspirations doesn't align with the conventional university process. Some wants to do something with their hands or some kind of vocational skills but they are forced to go to school to train on how to sit down at office all day which is to their disinterest
Also students may not be too serious in schools also when they lack motivation with the socio economic context of the society especially which is accompanied with lack of unemployment or jobs for graduates after school. Many students have resorted to other ways of earning income and have shunned school entirely because they don't want the reality to dawn on them eventually. Even though it's good to have a source of income as a student, however it's not ideal to shun academics totally for the latter. Many people because of engaging in other activities have affected their grades in schools. Even at all this, a student who's not encouraged and motivated enough by parents may perform poorly in school.
2. FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS.
Schooling require funds and huge amount of it. Because to succeed in school and pass excellently you have to buy many study materials for your course. You have to pay for your assignment works and projects. Some students fail not because they are not brilliant enough but they lack money to buy the necessary things they needed as a student. If as a student you can't buy the necessary materials and study packs for your course of study it might be difficult to pass as a student especially when buying some books is made mandatory by the lecturer in charge.
3. LECTURERS' DEFICIENCY.
Sometimes students may be not be serious with their study because the fault is from the lecturers. Some lecturers in public universities are so lazy that they won't come to class at all and just distribute materials for students to read. Some will even fix classes that won't eventually hold hence wasting students time and resources. Such act may lower a student's morale to learning. Some lecturers are so rigid that they hardly pass their students when it comes to exams and still expect those students not to lose hope and strength later on.
Like I said earlier, many factors come into play when assessing some of the reasons why students fail in schools or lack seriousness with their school work. It may come from them, from their parents or even from the lecturers.
Some lecturers are even fond of deliberating failing students due to one reason or the other.
