Love of a Friend

Man is born to be a social animal, that is, people love to be in relationships and not living in isolation from other members of the society. In every stages and phases of our lives, we have come into close contact with many people we call friends or close companions. Frankly, it will be very difficult to live a life void of friends or friendships. In every institutions evolving around human existence such as educational institutions, the workplace etc, we all have that one person we feel attached to and hope we share some common things with them.

The role of friends cannot be overemphasized, good friends can rapidly help you in life while the bad ones can mar your life's journey too. That's why it's very important to carefully study the type of friends you want to be associated with. We can't do without others, because we are not originally designed to live solitarily or in pieces distanced from other people in the society we are. You need that friends who can cover for you during your moment of need. Obviously you can't even scale through school successfully without having any friends, like it's not very possible or likely. Because there are some assignments or projects that needs collective efforts of group members and that can't be accomplished if everybody turn to each other's foes.

Here are some compiled facts about friends or friendships;

1. A true friend is always loyal and is born to help in time of need. Indeed friends are shown by their loyalty and willingness to help you in troubled or difficult moments. Many people are not worthy of friendship because they are not loyal. A person called a friend should be loyal during the easy and trying times. That's why true friends are rare as diamond so they say. Many people today enter into friendship relationship with others because of the benefits that attached to it, maybe the promise of financial security or other factors. If probably you found yourself in some kind of problem or challenge and nobody among your friends showed up for you then you've really got no true friends. A real friend stands with you no matter what and help you scale through difficult situations.

2. Wounds from a friend are better than kisses from the enemy. Why is this so? because kisses from the enemy is deceptive and you think you're being loved until you are stroke with the enemy's whip. If you have a true friends, they may hurt you but that doesn't mean they don't mean well for you but when an enemy puts his arm around your shoulder you should really watch out. Don't assume your friends don't love you just because of one time hurt and you decided to be rolling around with your enemy, someone you should be watchful of.

3. Never abandon a friend, either yours or your father's. People called your friend are not for use and dump alone. Learn not to abandon people you call your friends. Even if they are very distant from you, make it a point of duty to check on them through phone call or any other means periodically. It shows you still care and love them and that they mean something to you. Don't also abandon your father's friends, why? they may be of benefits to you in the nearest future. Many people have had their life set straight and good for life as a result of the influence of their fathers' friends. Don't have the habit of abandoning people that may be of help to you later. Nobody is totally useless in life.

Friendship is sweet especially when you experience it with the right persons. As they say, a friendly discussion is as stimulating as the sparks that fly when iron strikes iron.
