Creating One's Future
A wise man ( Dwight D. Eisenhower) once said " Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him". Almost everybody believes in the future, because the world is based on times and seasons, there is Past, Present and Future. One of the mistakes that some people make about the future, is that they assume that the future will come as a time or season, an unplanned future is a failed future. As human being, we have this belief that our future is loaded with potentials, and this common thought that "Tomorrow is going to be okay", well tomorrow might be okay if it's well planned or well created, but if it's not it will be worse than the past and present.
We do not have to wait until the future comes, because if the future comes and there are not plans, goals, and dreams for it, the future will certainly looks like the past and then an hope for a better future, that's why some people future never comes, even if it comes the potentials with the future won't materialize because the future was not planned for. A wise man or brave man will not wait for the future to comes before he start planning for it, because " He who fails to plan, plan to fail", what we do today determines what will happen in the future, today speaks of tomorrow.
William Gibson in his word said " The future is already here - it is just unevenly distributed". That's why a brave and wise man will not wait for the train of the future to run over him, the future is already here, the future is with us, what we have to do is to create and plan for it. Our future is in our hands, we are the one who really decides what happens around us tomorrow, our decisions today gives birth to our positions tomorrow. Our future is decided and created by us. An unplanned life is not worth living, future requires plans, success is planned. Planning is the starting point of achievement, If truly we know that our future is going to be okay and alright, if truly our future is going to be better than our yesterday and today, hence a need for proper planning. The questions we should ask ourselves is " What really is our plan for the future", " What have we decided for ourselves for the next moment". Taking our journeys back into yesterday, blaming ourselves for past mistakes, or taking joy from our past glory's can limit or hinder our future, we should think more of the future and create a better future, if really we want to excel.
Our future is in our control, we need to work hard for it, make sacrifices for noble purposes, develop a good habit that will take us to a greater height tomorrow. Abraham Lincoln experienced much disappointment in his early age. He failed to obtain appointment as commissioner in1849, lost senate race in 1855 and 1858, lost vice presidential nomination in 1856 and 1864, but he created a very bright future for himself and at the end he became a great achiever, he became one of the greatest presidents of America. Once he wrote to a friend saying "Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing".
One thing we should have in mind is that we should have a positive mindset about our future, life is full of ups and downs, the present might not look good and smooth, but our plans for the future should be of a positive mindset, strong determination and bright future.
To create your future, think more seriously of what you want to be and walk more seriously towards that direction. Envision your position in life and walk towards that direction ! Make decision today that will create the future you desire! Be ready to pay the price!
