Hello, this is my 5th article here and i want to talk about an actor, Indonesian actor, who played the character of sub zero in the Mortal Kombat film that just released on this April, 2021.
He is Joe Taslim.
Joe Taslim is an Indonesian actor, who was born in Palembang, South Sumatra,39 years ago. Besides an actor he is also a model, a singer (Honestly, I just found out myself, haha I've never heard him sing)
even an athelete, former athlete, who once made Indonesia proud for winning a silver medal for Judo at the SEA Games 2007.
To be honest, I familiar with his face, name, because he is very popular in Indonesia as an martial art actor. Therefore i often saw him on TV, ads and on.
The film that made him began to be considered was the Raid : Redemption.
The raid is Indonesian action movie that after its release had perched in the top 15 of the American cinema box office and the top 5 of UK cinema box office after its premiere in 2012.
Yes, this film was quite successful, and even the second sequel was finally made. The Raid 2 : Berandal.
He played a role as Jaka, a police sergeant.
But!😅 I've never watched The Raid at all. and I'm not sure I'll watch it, because I've watched the fighting scene, and it's really scary for me.
Ok! back to the main topic!
Btw, I just watched Joe's movie this year🤣.
First. Swordsman. a Korean movie that released on september,23rd, 2020.
This movie was played by a Korean actor which maybe quite familiar to you if you are a fan of Korean dramas or films, Jang Hyuk.
Here, Joe played a role as Gurutai, a villain from Qing. He is a ruthless and merciless commander of a swordsmanship from the Qing Dynasty.
He was the main villain who will fight Jang Hyuk at the end of the story... to be honest... for me it's less exciting, I wish the battle was more intense.
However the beginning of the fight that was shown when JangHyuk was still young, (played by BTOB's MinHyuk), is quite awesome, I like it, it reminds me of Batosai (Kenshin Himura)
Alright, after swordsman.
I accidentally watched Mortal Kombat, which just released on April this year. Because I wanted to watch an action movie.
And ...😅 I was surprised to see him playing there again as the main villain.
For those of you who are familiar with this film which was previously released in 1995, or even the game version, you must be very familiar with a sub-zero character.
and Joe played a role as Sub Zero, who has lethal power because he could freeze anything he touches.
He could even control the weather, like he could make snow fall which is pretty cool actually... but terrible.
Again!
sub zero was described as very terrible, but for some reason the way it was defeated was less attractive in my opinion. lol.
I'm a little bit disappointed, because the concept of this film is good, the acting of their actors and actresses are also good, but... the storyline is not that good... this is my personal opinion as a fantasy action movie lover😬 And what I don't like about this film is that the amount of blood that looked unnatural, yeah i know... maybe because it based on a game.
I would say this film is not recommended to be watched by children because it is very sadistic ... the murder was uncensored, such as a crushed head, split body, and some sadistic scenes.😹
anyway the trailer is great.
Besides of those 3 movie i've mentioned above, Joe also playing in some international movie. And none of these i've watched.
1. Dead Mine (2012)
The first horror action movie on Asian HBO. He was one of a team of mercenaries who accompany Warren Price (Les Loveday), the son of a billionaire in search of a Japanese military bunker on Una-Una Island, Sulawesi.
2. Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
This film have made Joe Taslim began to be known in foreign countries.
In the film, he played a role as Jah, Shaw's henchman, a criminal who sells illegal weapons. Here, he got a fight scene against Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang).
By the way, he's always been a villain😹
3. Stark Trek Beyond (2016)
In the film, He played the antagonist named Manas, a former first officer of Captain Balthazar Edison (Idris Elba), who later turns into an alien.

4. Warrior (2019)
Warrior is an American martial arts crime drama television series based on the original concept of Bruce Lee. And the executive producer of this series is Bruce Lee daughter Shannon Lee.
Here, Joe played a role as Li Yong, a secret lover of Mai Ling, Long Zii's wife.
In addition, Li Yong is also Ah Sahm rival. Ah Sahm is the main lead played by Andrew Koji.
