There are acts we do get our self involved with but don't actually know they are harmful to health both physically and mentally.... Before I list those behaviors we need to have an Idea of what self-harm is.....Self-harm occurs while you harm yourself as an expression of managing very tough feelings, painful or unbearable recollections, or overwhelming, unjust, burdensome conditions and experiences.
There is this belief that whenever a person engages in self-harming themselves they tend to be suicidal and that is not true sufferer does not necessarily have to be suicidal to engage in these behaviors. Before I continue make sure you check out my wonderful sponsors
There are different scenarios human beings harm themselves however they do not know due to the fact what they're doing is a part of their everyday activities, those behaviors include
1. NO BUDGET PLANNING
This is one of the common ways of self-harming, people tend to keep away from the factor of setting up a well certain approach or plan to spend their cash. They do not have a concept that organizing this spending method or strategy could permit you to decide earlier whether or not you do have sufficient cash to do the things you want to do however they forget about that part that is when overspending set in and at the end of the day we have to starve ourself until the next income, wages or tips arrives. During that period we tend to be depressed, thinking about when we had the money, some might even ask for loans and they start wishing I should have planned how I will spend it...... Then boom another comes in they will forget what had happened until they lavishly spend the whole money again.
It keeps repeating itself again and again, while some won't even have nothing to spend because they would have used their salary, income, or profit to pay loans.
2. ISOLATING YOURSELF
This is when you love being alone especially when you need to think about something important, need to rest your brain, unhappy, or anything that wants want you to distance yourself from people.
There is nothing bad isolating yourself sometimes, due to some researches it helps and individuals to
Increase creativity
Enhances concentrations
Sometimes improves productivity
But Like they say βtoo much of a thing is not good" when you start loving to be alone everytime and you don't want to associate with friends and if that continues and you do that frequently it then becomes a habit. Then you start enjoying being alone which may later lead to depression.
3. AVOIDING GOING TO THE DOCTOR
Where I came from when one is sick they just assumed that is malaria they won't bother going for a medical check-up, they think is a waste of time and a waste of money at the same time....they would just go to the nearest pharmacy to get malaria drugs.
When they are healthy, they totally avoid going to a doctor, they never knew that the best time you should go medical check-up is when you are healthy because that is when you would be able to
Detect life-threatening diseases at early stages: Early discovery of a disease gives you the best possible chance of recovering from it.
Reduce the risks of getting sick
4. WATCHING AND LISTENING TO THINGS THAT MAKES YOU SAD ON PURPOSE
People tend to indulge in listening to sad music which in turn makes them sad. Why would they do that? Are they happy being sad? ...... I don't think so, most times is peer pressure they want to feel among.
Most of them that want to feel sad is in a good relationship they work together and support each other, even when they don't see each other daily or don't have goals that are exactly the same but they still find a way to assist each other and when they are a problem they are happy to share it with a professional but because everything is fine they just want to find a way to make everything bad so they indulge themselves in listening and watching sad songs and movies just to find out what could break them up.
5. Abusing Drugs And Alcohol
I don't think there's a problem in using using drugs if it is for the right thing and nothing bad in drinking alcohol if you are above the legal age but not in excess.
Some abuse alcohol without even knowing that they are doing such. For some people, it's normal to take alcohol every day so far it doesn't intoxicate them they use that as an excuse while some take alcohol until they start feeling the effect of it because if they don't feel it they haven't drink anything yet.
While for drugs it doesn't have to be illegal ones, it can be using the legal ones in a way you shouldn't like taking cough syrup when you are not coughing or using pain killers when you don't feel any pain. Drug abuse can be easily stopped but when it turns to addiction it is another thing entirely.
Excessive use of alcohol and drugs has their side effects and other health-related problems which could affect our organs especially our livers, it's like we are calling our death day to come earlier.
However, there are still enough of behaviours we do that we ourselves don't know we're harming ourselves. Make sure you stay safe and take care of your self and don't forget the best time to visit the doctor is when you're healthy
