The benefits of Water

Have you ever tried to spend a day without water? Do you envisage how uncomfortable you will have been before the end of the day? Water plays many roles in our life and society at large. Researchers believed that more than seventy five percent of the earth is covered in water. We use water everyday, we drink water daily, use it to cook our meals, to wash among many others. You wouldn't love water? Perhaps a human being might live for many days without food but he can't survive for many days without water. Water is essential and core to human survival.

Water is listed among the classes of food. It helps to aid digestion after eating. You wouldn't want to eat food without drinking. Water helps in sustainability of life. Living things; humans, animals and plants can live for days, weeks or months without food but cannot live longer than a few days without water.

Water is everywhere around us and it is used to serve many purposes. Farmers need water for their crops and for their animals. It is used for putting out fire. Water is used for washing, production of goods and for cooling hot metals in factories. In some country water is used for producing electricity. For example, in Nigeria, water is used for producing electricity from the hydroelectric works at kanji dam

There are different sources of water ranging from rain water, springs, wells. Other sources of water are rivers, lakes and sea. We do use sea water because it is salty.

Water from rivers and lakes is called fresh water but should be treated before consumption because it is not safe due to the presence of sand, dirt, oil and microbial pathogenic agents that can cause water borne diseases.

Water can be treated by applying heat to it. The heat kills the microbial pathogenic agents that cause serious diseases like cholera and dysentry. Water can be filtered and also be treated by the method of chemical disinfection to make it safe for us to drink.

Water is also essential to our body in many ways. For instance, water is needed to regulate body temperature. Been dehydrated during hot seasons especially can cause high temperature because the body need water during such period. Our body loses water a lot in form of sweat during physical activities or in hot seasons. Therefore staying hydrated in hot seasons and virtually every time helps our body system a lot.

Another benefit of drinking water is that it helps you to lose weight. Drinking more water after exercise and after dieting might just help you to lose some weight. There's too much of drinking water as water is so important to our health. Drinking water  also helps to prevent constipation, it's not only by eating fiber that you can avert constipation but by drinking water, you can avoid constipation, hypertension. Water can also help to absorb out the important vitamins, minerals from our food, this will boost the chance of our staying fit and healthy.

When you are hydrated you have a peace of mind, a dehydrated person suffers from fatigue and stress especially if they are thirsty. So not drinking or getting enough water can affect one's mood. That's why it is important to keep close to you a bottle of water. It is also recommended that you travel along with water and everywhere you are going to. Even I carry water to my examination venue. Water is indispensable and important to nature at large.
