Amber had been married for about 3 years with a child, she got married to her high school sweetheart Paul. The first year of her marriage was really blissful, endless outings and trips within and outside the state. Things suddenly turned sour when when Paul lost his job as a supervisor in the construction company he had worked in since his graduation from the university. Amber's job in the bank was now used to feed and clothe the family.
Finding himself with no job to do and too much time on his hands, Paul took solace in alcohol. The bar down the road was his comfort zone. He would go there as early as 7am when Amber took Ali their little son to school before going to work and come back when Ali was already fast asleep at night.
Amber always stayed awake for him. Pretty soon the sight of Amber and Ali began to disgust him, he would take out his anger on them, he would beat Amber into a pulp and when Ali tried to separate them, he would beat up the child as well. Amber took Ali to her sister, she couldn't bear to see her son go through all the trauma of watching her being abused by her husband.
Her sister, Allison begged her to leave the house when Paul beat her and locked her outside the house. She refused hoping things would go back to the way they were during the first year of their marriage, she intensified her efforts in helping Paul look for a job.
Things did not get better as Paul grew from bad to worse, Allison got him arrested on more than two occasions but it didn't solve anything.
Last month, Allison tried calling her sister to inform her that her son had developed a terrible cold, she couldn't reach her. She called her office and they told her that she had been absent from work for about a week, she tried Paul's number, it was switched off. She took a bus to their house and met the whole flat empty, no furniture, nothing at all.
She took the case to the station and she was made to write a statement. It's been weeks and the police haven't been able to find any meaningful information on the whereabouts of either Paul or Amber.
