Do you love your body? Are you serious enough to do something about your health after 60?
In my blog, I will be sharing my fitness journey after 60 and why you should also come along with me on this journey. I sincerely believe that you and I can live the best and healthiest life, and be the best and strongest shape we can ever be, even after 60.
There are 3 simple key factors required to be fit and healthy after 60:
Number 1: The Right Mindset
To be successful in anything in life, having a strong and correct mindset is extremely important. First of all, it is never too late to start, even after 60. There is no perfect time to start, as TODAY is the perfect time to start doing something for yourself, because you have only one life, so make your life count, no matter what age you are at. Do not let anyone, including your closest family members tell you that you can't do it. You need to do it 100% for yourself. Secondly, it is important to know what you want, why you want it, and what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve it. Why is it important to you to be fit and healthy after 60? Do you want to look good? Do you want to feel young and energetic? Do you want to do things you find difficulty in doing so even at a younger age? Now that you know what you want, are you able to invest a little bit of time out of your 24 hours a day into achieving this desire of yours? Are you willing to spend time and resources (money for equipment/instructor/gym subscription fees) to achieve great health in life? If your answer is 'yes' to all, then let's move on the factor number 2.
Number 2: Know Your Fitness Goal & Get The Right Information
Once you are clear about what you want, ask yourself what is your fitness goal. Do you want to lose unhealthy weight? Do you want to reduce your blood pressure and cholesterol level? Do you want to gain more muscle mass? By having a clear goal you would be able to find out easily how you can achieve it, and most times the answer is as simple as a google away. Additionally you should write down your budget and time that you are willing to dedicate to achieving your goal. It would then be easier to determine what type of meal plan or fitness plan/gym equipment would be suited to your needs and within your budget. There are also free consultations offered by some local gyms (in Malaysia most gym franchises offer this one-time free consultation) and they would be able to advise you on a fitness plan based on your needs while taking into consideration your age and background. You can also easily google free healthy meal plans online that are suited for individuals after 60.
Number 3: Take Action & Remember Why You Started
Finally, this may sound simple but its the most important step to ensure your continuous success. Once you have obtained the right information and you know what you need to do, just do it! At our age, it will require more effort in achieving a healthy and fit goal, but that doesn't mean it is impossible. Anything good in life will always take time, effort and pain to achieve, but do not ever give up. Your future is determined by what you do today, so always keep that in mind. Always remember why you started, and always remember that you have only one life, so live the best life you can, even after 60. As for me, I do what I do because I love it, and no matter what happens in life, I will continue striving to be fit and healthy as long as I can.
