Is it a habit of yours to be late? Whether it's for school or job, catching up with a friend, or going to a crucial meeting. Running late can be stressful and cause you to lose track of your schedule. Being late is a result of prioritizing other things over being on time. Punctuality demonstrates your integrity, that you value and respect the time of others, that you value yourself, and that you are a responsible individual who cares about keeping your promises.

So, if you're looking for ways to avoid being late, here are a few pointers.

Figure out how long things truly take, especially if you're prone to being overly optimistic and ending up late. When you get up in the morning, how long does it take you to get ready? If you don't know the answer to this simple question, it might be a good idea to start timing yourself. It's lot easier to plan ahead of time once you know how long things take. Find out how long it takes to get to the destination.

If you've never gone to the location before, be sure you know how to get there. People are frequently late because they have difficulty finding the location and expect that once they arrive, they will locate it promptly. It's also a good idea to overestimate your commute time by 15 minutes to account for any unexpected delays.

Sync the clocks on all of your devices to the same time. Every clock in your house, as well as your computer and phone, should be set to the same time. This reduces the chances of becoming perplexed about the correct thing.

Prepare everything ahead of time. Pack your baggage, choose an outfit, and prepare your meal the day before to avoid last-minute delays.

Immediately get out of bed. Have you ever been late because you slept too much? Oversleeping is frequently the result of not getting enough sleep, so go to bed early the night before and wake up as soon as your alarm goes off.

Make sure you give yourself adequate time to complete the task at hand. Lateness is usually the outcome of a domino effect, in which one activity leads to another. So, when it comes to time management, be realistic.

Set a timer to remind you when it's time to depart. It's easy to lose track of time when you're in the middle of something. When the alarm goes off, get out of there as soon as possible. When it's time to depart, don't keep working on your project. If you can't finish it in time, start wrapping it up and making preparations to finish it later. Just keep track of where you're leaving off so you may start up where you left off at a later date.

Keep your keys and travel items together. When you get home, put them in the same position every day. This way, you'll always know where to look for them in the morning and won't be late because you can't find them.

When feasible, travel at off-peak hours. This is a method of avoiding being slowed down by traffic or crowds. If you can't avoid peak hours, factor in ample extra commute time.

Finally, arrive early. Instead than attempting to arrive on time, aim to arrive early. Because there are so many unforeseeable factors outside your control that can prevent you from arriving on time. It's much easier to arrive sooner and do something while waiting for time to pass if you concentrate on controllable issues. Consider it an additional opportunity to be productive, so carry things you can accomplish on the fly and be prepared at all times.

So these are the tips to stop being late and start being on time

It's always better to be early. I believe that there's no such thing as Filipino time. Being Filipino means respecting each other, and this included respecting each other's time and effort. :)

I wrote something about this previously. I. HATE.BEING.LATE. So, I am particularly displeased by those who do not value time - mine and theirs.
