Having good friends is a blessing that we used to overlook. In life, friendship is important because friends make us happy. Your happiness and mental health are greatly impacted by your friendships.

In the meantime, if you don't have decent friends, they will mislead you and you will regret becoming friends.

I don't have many close friends, yet I am nice. I will make sure you behave well and have the same values as I do.

I referred to my close friends differently in high school than I did later on when I entered higher institutions.

When I was in high school, my closest friends were childhood friends with whom I had attended the same high school.

However, I didn't fully understand what a close friend was until I entered university. And this close friend turned into my best friend.

   How I Met My Close Friends

When I was an undergraduate, I enjoyed attending parties. Due to my active social life, I was well-known in my faculty.

When I was between 100 and 200 levels, pencil jeans were in Vogue. I always wore pencil-style jeans, which made guys and girls like me and want to be my friend.

My closest friend, Kunle, and I met in 2009 during the SUG social night. Danny Young and 9ice were the featured performers. One of the best artists in Nigeria at the time was 9ice.

That evening, Kunle and I both wore white tops with black skinny jeans and white sneakers.

We greeted one another and quickly became friends because we shared a love for fashion. You would believe we are siblings because of how close we were in school. He enjoys parties just as much as I do, and he is friendlier than I am.

I introduced him to my family, and he did the same, everyone in his family was very nice. Because of his thoughtful action, everyone, including my siblings, adores him.

This guy used to wake me up in the middle of the night to pray with me for an hour or two. He taught me how to be a prayerful person.

We continued our friendship even after we left the higher education institutions and kept in touch frequently. Fortunately, we share the same career path. He specialized in building technology, while I'm a civil engineer.

I went to the city in search of a better life after our youth service. He eventually joined me in the city after a few months. We are in constant contact to this day.

We used to attend different occasions together up till date.

He has done a lot for me, he cares a lot, and he never fails to cheer me up when I'm unhappy. He supports me and is aware of my difficulties

That was the reason I agree with the adage that says 'a good friend is more than gold'. I found peace in Kunle.

In conclusion, When you have a good friend, loneliness and isolation are avoided. Your life can be greatly improved by good friendships.

Your best friend pushes you to learn more about yourself and improve. When things are challenging, they motivate you to keep going and share in your victories. They don't feel jealous about your wins.
