Every journey begins with a single step, and often that step is the hardest part. It's easy to find excuses for not starting what you want to do, but in my experience, there are only two reasons we don't pursue our dreams: fear and worry. Worrying about failure will stop most people from trying at all. Fear is a powerful emotion and it can drive us to do amazing things or hold us back from achieving greatness.
A common theme in a lot of art and literature is the idea that when writing your life story, you should always write the ending first. But why?
I don't know where this idea came from or how it began to build in my heart, but I will advise you to write the ending of your life story first before you start writing.
Let me put it another way: When writing your life story, you should always write the ending first.
If you write the ending first, you will know what the big parts of your life will be. If you write the ending first, you will know where you want to go. If you write the ending first, you will know if and how your life will change and what you want out of it. If you write the ending first, the rest of your life story will come together much easier.
Before we get into the analogy, let's look at why we might even want to write our life stories at all. The reason for this is that we need to figure out where we want to go in life and why we want to get there. One of the many things I learned from my time in life is that we all often say we want to do something and we want to be someone and we set out — we make plans — on how we’re going to make these things happen. But very rarely do we talk about how we’re going to finish these plans.
The reason why we need to write down our stories is that they can help us identify problems and goals in our lives. Our stories tell us about the things we want to accomplish, the remedies to our problems, our fears, and how we can overcome them.
A lot of people have a life journey that is much richer and much more satisfying to themselves and others if they know what it is. So much of who we are, so much of our decisions, so much of our actions every day are based upon knowing where we're going, knowing what we're after.
The end is the beginning and the beginning is the end and where you want to go depends on where you have been. The journey is long and sometimes you need a compass to know if you’re going in the right direction. But where do you get a compass? From your dreams. From your goals. From your vision. From yourself.
In your life, you will have many dreams. You will have many goals. You will have many visions. You will have many moments in time that define who you are and what you want to be, but it all starts with one big decision: What do you want?
The truth is that once you ask yourself that question and answer it in writing, the rest of your life story comes together much easier because from there on out, it’s all about execution.
If you can see your life a decade from now, then that means that you have a vision for who you want to be and what you want to have. If you have a vision for who you want to be, then it is easier to figure out what classes to take in college, what career path to pursue, or how to get your current job more fulfilled.
If you have a vision for what you want to have in 10 years, then it is easier to narrow down the field of choices in front of you and proceed with a clear objective in mind.
Life is like a building, you need to get the architecture aesthetic first before embarking on the building project else your building wouldn't go right. It is important to set a point of interest before writing the conclusion of your life journey. A writer must know where they want to go before putting pen to paper. The same applies to human beings, we must determine where we are heading with our life before starting our journey.
In today's society, there seems to be a new competition every day. It is rare to see people truly happy with what they have. By truly happy, I mean happy from within, not from external sources such as wealth, fame, and luxury.
There's always a need to be better than someone else and also a need to achieve the best results in life. This has become a problem that most people can't seem to get out of. They keep on winning and winning, but after every win, they want more, more and more.
However, no matter how many races you win in life, no matter how many trophies you get, there will always be one thing unanswered, what is the ultimate aim? There will always be something missing in your journey.
I love the post made by @Usmanshoaib on noise.cash titled "The birth of a legend" in the post, he draw a blueprint of how his life would be in ten years. My comment on the post is the heading for this article.
Here are the screenshots of the post below, and my comment.
The post on the screenshot resonates with what am trying to get across in this article. Know exactly where you are going before embarking on your journey in life.
It is not wise to embark on a long journey without first knowing where you are going. This is especially true in the journey of life, because the road that lies ahead may be riddled with bumps and potholes. These can easily lead to disaster if not navigated properly. For example, some people have no idea what they want to do with their lives, so they spend years studying many different subjects before picking one. Other people struggle for years trying to figure out what they want to be or why they are here at all. They think it’s normal to struggle with not knowing what to do and having no direction in life.
One of the most important things that we can do to put ourselves in a position for success is to make sure we know what success looks like. Without this, it’s easy to get caught up in the rat race and run around with no real direction or purpose. I made a list of five different areas of my life where I wanted to be successful. In each area, I listed three ways that I could measure my success. By listing these goals, I was able to keep track of how well I was doing in each area. This helps me to keep to my dreams and direction of achieving them.
Bottom line
There is a big difference between knowing and doing. In our world of hustle and bustle, the former is often mistaken for the latter. It is easy to get lost in one’s daily life that we forget why we are here. It’s very important that you know where you are going before embarking on any journey of life or career. If you don’t know what your destination is, how will you reach there? How will you know when you have reached there? What if you reach nowhere?
Yes, I remember a quote I heard somewhere, it says - you can only feature in a future you envisioned.
