Why giving away BCH doesn't help adoption
The adoption of BCH on a global scale is paramount to its success which will, in turn, increase its market value. However, the adoption rate of BCH has in a slow and gradual manner despite all the resources being deployed to make it quicker and more visible. To speed up the adoption, the idea of giving a little BCH to people to test the potency of the coin seems very logical, however, this has not brought any real adoption due to several reasons.
Firstly, the giving of free BCH is like giving the solution before the discovery of the problem. Most people who receive free BCH do not even know what it is all about and the problem it is designed to solve, and as such, the urge to keep experimenting with BCH to know more about it and its utility and value would be dead after a short while. So, no one is interested in using their money to buy what they do not understand. Among the majority who got free BCH from the two major sites that are promoting BCH, namely; read.cash, and Noise.cash, only about a handful of them try to learn more about BCH and how best they can use their coins to bring value the Bitcoin Cash network.
BCH was created to solve a problem that the world banking system and other cryptocurrencies failed to address. It's therefore important that people understand the problem that BCH is out to solve otherwise even the free BCH they received becomes a problem for them and the best they can do is to dispose of them as quickly as they can.
I know that my opinion in this article will probably not be taken in a good light since am equally among those who receive free BCH daily for writing and publishing content here, but I must confess that the giving of free BCH has been counterproductive so far. I am sure that the ones who received free BCH do not feel as much of a reason to find out the best way to its use and the purpose for which it was given. The motivation behind the giving of free BCH is not a pure altruistic love for the network but it's merely to drive interest and make the BCH system more visible. However, the number of people learning more about BCH is not what one would have expected because most of the free BCH recipients don't care much about the BCH system; all they care about is having a piece of the action and this is causing a little slack in the adoption process.
Another reason why the giving of free BCH has failed to help adoption has been a lack of adequate teaching for beginners in a community setting. Most of the few writers on BCH subjects are rather blamers instead of teachers and trainers. And the content produced is way too higher for a beginner to understand. This has been responsible for the drop in interest in BCH adoption as the experts are not providing a simple one-pager of BCH for newcomers.
The role of a community where beginners meet and learn from those more knowledgeable is of utmost importance for the development of a new digital currency. Without this support, the community may not be able to harness the vast power and potential of the cryptocurrency space. Some of our experts here would not like to hear about a BCH community or group apart from the well-known social media forums like Reddit and Memo, which do really have space for a beginner. They see such groups or communities of beginners as a way to cheat and exploit the free BCH. They think that these amateur members are trying to drive traffic to their posts or articles, instead of making a difference by helping to create awareness for BCH.
Although that may be true in some cases, we cannot deny the fact that when people are talking about one thing all the time, even if they are not experts in the subject, it tends to gain more exposure and it gets popular. It is in this local community and forums beginners learn in simple terms, learn the main principles and then they feel comfortable enough to help promote it further. The absence or rather an avoidance of a local community for beginners leaves the majority of the beginners on their own, and therefore, end up selling away their BCH for fiat with zero understanding of its use or its origin.
Unity is the key to success, and it is in such a local community that the farsighted beginners will thrive. Just imagine how different the BCH community would have been today if those who got free BCH for writing and publishing articles were also given a place where they could find peers, learn the basics of BCH, and get some tips on how best to use their BCH, and more importantly, learn to promote BCH.
Some may agree or not on the matters I raised above, but I feel that the lack of an effective local community for beginners has actually played a major role in why the giving of free BCH did not help much in adoption. And we can not blame anyone for selling the BCH they get for free because that is what they know about it. But one thing is certain; we have to somehow find a way to teach the beginners the fundamentals of BCH and have them promote it in a good way.
In conclusion, I feel that the free BCH initiative failed because of a lack of local communities where beginners can learn in simple terms about BCH and how to help promote the benefits of BCH. We cannot expect beginners to create a lot of interest in BCH if they do not know it in simple terms. Also, we should not expect people to hold their BCH if they do not know the benefit value of doing so.
I know the points stated in this article may not be too convincing, but I believe if those points were initiated earlier on and openly supported by those who matter, the free BCH initiative would've been a success.
Hello, my friend.
Thank you for bringing this issue to the discussion.
Well, the biblical dictum about not giving pearls to swine comes to mind, and I contrast it with the work of authors engaged in spreading the goodness of adopting BCH as an alternative to fiat money.
Of course, as you rightly say, ignorance and the lack of an environment for the use of BCH play against it.
From experience, I know how easy it is for one to diagnose the problem and indicate the objectives, but the difficult part is how to achieve them.
Perhaps, the most effective way is to try to stimulate a change of consciousness as the authors do. Perhaps, some of us should adapt the message to the audience, no doubt it is so, but they do a commendable job that will reach those who are ready for them.
Even I, knowing the pitfalls of the system, feel the need to use the BCH given in these great platforms to spread the knowledge about the truly decentralized currency.
In my area of influence, whenever I can, I promote this opportunity to reach the financial freedom kidnapped by the elites, but simply, there is no worse deaf person than the one who does not want to hear.
Nevertheless, there will always be some who will appreciate the pearls that are given to them, beyond the initial use that introduces them to the crypto-verse.
God bless and keep you.
