Things will never be the same again

We have done all that we could do, we have made all the necessary preparations, we have visited some of our closet friends at least for the last time, we are now ready to say goodbye to our dear friends, but one thing that borders me most is that things will never be the same again. Moving to a new city can be so exciting, emotional, and difficult at the same time. The excitement bored down to the fact that you are going to discover new places and new things without the thought of living in that new place. Children are often the first to get excited about moving to a new place but when the chips are done, emotion quickly sets in. How can we leave all these people and the things we have done here and move on? It's hard to say goodbye to a long-standing friend, the emotion runs deep in my veins, and yet goodbye I must say.

Moving to a new place can be so expensive and difficult at the same time. The cost of moving can be mind-blowing if your organization doesn't offer to cover relocation expenses. However, we are lucky to have a well-structured organization where relocation packages are not an issue. The costs associated with travel expenses, moving labor, corporate housing, are well taken care of in advance. But the real cost and challenges are the businesses we will have to leave behind. There's nothing anyone can do about that because we counted the cost at the beginning before taking the path of service. We have made a choice and we will follow the path for the rest of our lives.

The challenges

1. Finding the right location for starting a business again

Finding a perfect location can be a daunting task in a new city where you are not familiar with the place and knew no one there. This can take several months to find the best location and may put a financial strain on us. However, we will have to be strong and bears whatever comes our way. I have no other source of income apart from the business. What this means is that we have to live with part of our business capital until we can get a place to start our business. Our service allowance for a month could nearly feed us for two weeks and we are only two weeks away in the month. This will be very hard for my wife to deal with, seeing us living with part of our business capital without a corresponding refilling for a period of three to four months won't be easy at all. I do pray things to go well for me here as a writer, such that in time I could convert some of my BCH to Fiat currency to recoup our capital.

2. Finding the right school for the children

Children are so emotional and it will be hard for them to let go of the feeling of leaving their friends in their former school for quite some time. Finding the right school in a new city can be a dummy and worrisome experience. We will need to find a school within the district where our housing is located. I like children attending a school not too far from home. That will reduce the cost of transportation cause they will not need a shuttle bus to get to and from school daily. Things will not be the same again for the children. Everything basically about their schooling and learning will definitely change. It might be for the better or worst who knows. But one I will do right is to do proper research about the available schools within our housing district before making a decision on which of the school the children should attend.

Moreover, changing school equal starting over again. I will have to pay tuition fees, buy school uniforms and gadgets, buy new books as school here doesn't use a uniform curriculum and the same books. All that I have done in their previous school I will have to repeat.

3. Cultural shock

Adapting to a new city and culture can feel overwhelming and lonely, especially if the cultural differences are so obvious. Children will be most affected in this case as they will find it hard blending with the locals in school, church, and within the compound among neighbors. As a person who has traveled far and wide at least within my country, I have had the opportunity to experience most cultural norms and understand the cultural behaviors of most tribes of my country. My wife may also have a problem dealing with the locals as she would need to shop in the local market often. All the same, we will do our best to adapt as quickly as we can.

4. Making new friends

Social integration can be difficult and challenging for those who are introverted, But for us who have been leading people for over seven years, meeting and connecting with new people won't be a difficult thing. But knowing who to chose for a friend will be hard in the beginning. Children have to socialize in school and the church, but we must watch over them. Being new parish Ministers, people will naturally want to get closer to us but we must be careful whom we open our hands and heart to in the early stage.  We may never get the same types of people we use to have as closer friends but all the same, we will be a friend to all.

The thrill we might get

Opportunity to build new business career and partners

Starting a business in a new location could be a career accelerator leading to discover new business ideas that can lead to promotion and success quickly. It can also give an opportunity to excel, take things to the next level and create new business associates, and set the bar for others behind. It will also give us a chance to build a new team or project from the ground up.

Increase the standard of living and quality of life

Definitely the standard of living and quality of life will be affected for the better. The housing facilities provided must be better than where we are coming from. Housing quality has a way of affecting a person's standard of living. And we know this is a new beginning, so we're going to put all efforts to make a difference in our quality of life.

A good way to develop new skills and gain new experiences

Relocation is an opportunity to start fresh and reinvent oneself, to try new things, and gain relevant experiences. Depending on the nature of the place, we can start a new business we have never done before. This might require learning something new, a new business model that can scale easily in the new place.
