It always a joyous thing to see young boys growing up into adulthood and if you are a father, it gladens your heart to see your boy growing up rapidly and getting stronger by the day. As good as this experience may seem some questions must be considered as you watch your boys growing. How well are they informed about life? Are they growing up to become a man or just growing up as a male being?. When you think of it like this, you find out that a lot of young boys are growing up without a direction and purpose and the effects of this are that you end up having grown-up boys who are tumorous, mannerless, and weaklings. Man up is an issue that needs to be treated with seriousness in a family where you have young boys growing up. The word virtually means be a man, and most young boys don't know what is it to be a man beside the physical features that distinguish them from the girls. An honest commenter on my recent article about "when the comfort zone is nolonger comfortable"https://read.cash/@Fexonice1/when-the-comfort-zone-is-nolonger-comfortable-84baae8b has these to say, "please I don't know how to act like a man, am turning 22 can you please write about how to be a man". The truth is that there are many like him. So it's important to teach our young boys what it means to be a man, man up.
Going by the narrative is important to allude here as against the popular belief of most young boys that being a man is quite different from being a male. And it's not about the masculinity or body strength, but somethings deep within a male being that stands him out among others. Some of these things could be inherent or learned as a person grows up. It will be interesting to know that there is a spirit of a man and that of a woman, but most male children that grew up among many females tend to be influenced by the spirit of a woman, so naturally acts like a woman that they need to be told to man up.
Now let see what makes a man and how our boys can become the man of our dream. Man up! Are you ready?
What really makes a man
1. Self-confidence
The first thing I see that can make a young boy a man is confidence. As soon a young boy has started showing confidence in himself and starts believing in his capabilities that's when he is starting to think like a man. Self-confidence is believing in your capabilities to handle situations without parents' support. When you have confidence in yourself you will not be afraid to take on challenges and responsibilities. Self-confidence makes you discover yourself and who you are. This is an important attribute of a man because when you are self-confident, you are less likely to change who you are and able to maintain focus to stay true to yourself. A man with self-confidence will not be deterred from what he believes to be true and will not be easily pressured into doing things that he does not believe in.
2. Integrity
Integrity speaks about being true to your words and actions. To be a man you must stand by your word at all times and don't be a liar. Lies aren't good for a man and it's a weakness that makes people lie. The promise you make must be the promise you keep. In other words, don't make promises you cannot keep. This is where most supposed men fail, promising without fulfilling it an indication that you cannot be trusted and depended on. This often is the reason for the breakdown in the relationship between a man and a woman. Women like men who are true to their word and dependable. Be a man of your word, man up.
3. Courage and grit
A man must be courageous, after all this is one thing that quickly distinguishes you from a woman. Courage speaks of boldness in action in dealing with life issues. Until you pass the test of brevity you are not yet qualified to be called a man. Most adult males are finding it hard to settle down in marriage today because they lack the courage to live with a woman. It takes courage and grit to settle down in marriage to live with a woman all the days of your life. On the other hand, there are grown-up adult males who cannot approach a woman for a relationship for lack of courage. A man must be courageous at all times, this is why you are called a man. Some are afraid to leave their parents and set up on their own even when they have overstayed their time with their parents. They are afraid of living alone and to discover the world on their own. You need to be brave and step out to conquer your fear, man up.
4. Positive attitude
Attitude is everything and a good one is worth desirable. A man should have a positive attitude seeing the good in everything and believing in possibilities. A man with a positive attitude will always find success in whatever he does. And it helps him to have a quality association, because of his positive attitude people will want to be around him and to have fun with him. This will translate to happiness and fulfillment in life. A man with a positive attitude will be happy with his life and the world around him and he will want to look out for others and to help them. Positive people are usually quite different from negative people and they tend to smile and to laugh more.
5. Maturity
To be a man you must be mature enough to be able to care for yourself and calmly handle problems. Maturity isn't about age but about being responsible with the ability to handle challenges thoughtfully and purposely. This also comes with a sense of self-sufficient, you are good to take care of yourself and face your life without any parental control. It also gives you self esteem publicly, you know how to conduct yourself in public. Als,o, your dress sense needs a mature touch. You can be claiming to be a man while you are still sagging, that's childishness. You must understand the importance of being a man and start thinking for yourself, that's maturity. You will need to be financially and emotionally matured as well. Financial maturity is very important to be a man. Money is hard to get, and if peradventure you get it, it takes maturity to manage it. Financial decisions need maturity to be talked else youthful exegesis will swallow up your financial effort. Man up today.
