POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT THEORY....

How many times do you sing Stop it, leave it, drop it (and the likes daily)....I'm sure you loose count πŸ˜€πŸ˜...

It's normal when you are a parent to chant that daily rhyme, but it often appear that the child does not understandπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ.

Unfortunately it is You and I the parents that needs to understand how to help our child make necessary adjustments.

- The human mind is programmed to repeat what it hears and/or sees.

Let me break this down:

Your child uses a word you are not too comfortable with, : the first time you called her to order calmly..

You heard the child repeat the word then you frowned and while trying to scold the child, you mentioned the word also (unconsciously re-registering the word to your child's mindπŸ™‰)

Then you heard your child repeat the word (need not her fault though), then you get angry and react your way: flog, yell, threaten etc.

Which does not help or guide your child in anyway to make a better choice..

The positive reinforcement theory is simply helping the child out of the problem situation...

Simply tell the child repeatedly the right word to replace the wrong word you are frowning at. That way, your child is hearing less of the wrong and More of the right action

Not just correction but a proactive measure in Parenting...

Expose your child to the type of adult you like them to be, the quality of life you want them to live, the type of mindset you want them to have continuously and tirelessly and without making efforts, they start becoming it.

You want to raise a reader: start reading, expose them to readers, movies/shows that celebrate reading Culture, discuss it, let them interact with book junkies, make books available to them endlessly, then prepare to fight your child for reading too much 🀣🀣 πŸ˜‚.

Don't fight an habit with nothing (there is no vacuum in life) rather, create a positive replacement and be ready to guide your child through....

Guess what, Positive Reinforcement is a Life Principle you will also find helpful and relevant.

Intentional Parenting is demanding, but Highly Fulfilling.
