Things I reminisce about; Crazy things I did while growing up.
There are things we have done in the course of our lives that we can never forget. For one, I have done so many crazy and interesting things. Nothing of the sort should make you scared of me. I wouldn't share my adventure outside space, but I will tell you some of my unforgettable memories here on Earth.
He hasn't left Earth. Yes, that's me.
I will never forget the day I went out to look at people fighting with guns and knives. It was a clash between cultists. When I was young, I did not know how bad clashes among cultists could get. I wore a brown carton over me, which served as a bulletproof. I wanted to see the fight so badly that I snicked out through the kitchen door to watch people cutting and shooting themselves. My mom saw me from the window and started screeching; it was one of our neighbors who came to get me. I escaped death that day, not from the hands of the cultist but from my mom. The beating.
I will never forget the day a friend lied to me. Back in the days when we watched movies using DVD players, there was the movie my day bought, "Gladiator." Our neighbor's son was watching it with us that night, but it was so late that we asked him to go home. The disk has some other movies on it, but after one day, we couldn't find the disk again. "Who did you borrow?" my dad asked me while I was feeling threatened. "I did not borrow anyone, sir," I almost cried. A few days later, this boy, "Dami," came to return the movie, and the first person he met was my dad. "Who gave you this movie?" my dad asked him. "It was Tioluwa that gave it to me," Dami said. The look on my dad's face made me lose my voice. The beating.
I will never forget when my dad lost his job some years ago. He is a strong man we all rely on. When he lost his job, it was a tough time for the family. My siblings and I stopped going to school for almost two terms because of the school fee issue. Feeding was left to those who had friends, and I didn't have much back then. I was always with my dad, talking and sharing life experiences. I learned a lot back then, but now we are basking in the riches God has blessed us with.
I will never forget the day a girl was robbed right in front of me. It was a cross-over night in Surulere Laguna City. We just finished shouting Happy New Year at midnight, and we were on our way home. Just a few blocks away from the church, my parents were in front of me while I was walking behind my sisters to keep them safe. Two girls were walking towards us; one was on a call, while the other was just laughing and happy to have made it to the new year.
There were some guys, four of them, walking towards the girls. One of the guys dragged her phone and ran away while the other three blocked them, saying, "You want to die with your phone, bah?" The girls were powerless against those guys, but my Batman instinct told me to face my front and walk faster away from them. If any of the girls are reading this, I am sorry I couldn't help that day.
Lastly, I will never forget the history I learned from my grandma. She is a very wise and easy-going woman; she loves it when we sit down together, share tea, and discuss a general topic. I had the privilege of living with her while I was at the university. We have a big family tree, but I didn't know how big it was until she told me the secret of our family. Sometimes, when I share this knowledge with my cousins, they are always surprised at how much I know about our family history. It is history that gave birth to the renowned family of Ifasha-un, now known as Fashanu.
Thanks for reading.
