One if the most common questions is "How do I know if I'm at ideal weight?" So what is the ideal weight? Well, there are several factors that determine the ideal body weight, such as age, height, sex, and others, which we learn about in the following article

Ideal weight is a word that some of those who hear may think that it should be in specific sizes or be like fashion models, but it is the appropriate weight for a person who feels comfortable and happy with him, and to reach that appropriate weight, he must have a specific goal with some qualities such as patience and others.

Ideal body weight equations

There are different formulas for his calculation as the original formula for calculating the ideal weight was established by Dr. B.B. Broca, a French surgeon, in 1871:

Ideal weight (in kg) = Height (in cm) - 100, plus or minus 15% for women or 10% for men.

Dr. B J Devin announced the following formula in 1974:

  • For men: Ideal body weight (in kilograms) = 50 + 2.3 kilograms for every inch over 5 feet.

  • For women: Ideal body weight (in kilograms) = 45.5 + 2.3 kilograms for every inch over 5 feet.

However, it was observed that the ideal body weight values (especially for short women) were very low, when Devin's formula and his formula were used to calculate the ideal body weight. So the experts started using Robinson's formula, which is as follows:

  • For men: Ideal body weight (in kg) = 52 kg + 1.9 kg for every inch over 5 feet

  • For Women: Ideal Body Weight (in kg) = 49 kg + 1.7 kg for every inch over 5 feet

Nowadays, the following Hanwi formula is used to calculate ideal body weight for men and women:

  • Hanoi's formula: For a man: Ideal body weight (in kilograms) = 48 kg + 2.7 kg for every inch over 5 feet

  • Hanoi's Formula: For Women: Ideal Body Weight (in kg) = 45.5 kg + 2.2 kg for every inch over 5 feet

Notes:

  1. Foot = 30 cm and an inch = 2.54 cm

  2. A person's age is not taken into consideration in the above formula to obtain an ideal body weight.

What is the ideal weight?

It is an assessment of the individual's weight, depending on his height, to see if the weight is appropriate for the body structure and height, or is less than the average or more than required.

How do we define it?

The ideal weight index is determined in several ways, the most popular and easiest of which is this method:

Ideal weight index = weight in kg ÷ square height (height x height) in meters

For example, if a person weighs 50 kg and is 1.52 meters long, in this case:

Ideal weight index = 50 ÷ (1.52 x 1.52) = 21.6

After obtaining this result, we compare it with the normal indicators, which differ from one age stage to another, so the individual’s age must be considered when judging whether his index is normal or not. The groups that are most looking for are young men and girls over the age of twenty and here are their weight indicators:

  • Thinness index is under 18.5

  • Ideal weight index 18.5-24.9

  • Weight gain 25-29.9

  • Obesity 30 and over

How to get the ideal weight?

Set realistic goals

It is absolutely not correct for a person to suddenly decide to lose weight by 50 kilograms, for example, but rather he must set an achievable goal and he must do everything in his power to achieve that goal so that he will not be disappointed when not achieving it.

What weight do I weigh this week ??

Let this be a weekly question that must always be answered, as laziness in knowing weight makes a person lose control of the matter and waste all his efforts in the end, as regular knowledge of weight helps in making appropriate decisions for his current weight.

Not to refrain from eating

Finally, when some people decide to follow a diet or diet they abstain from food suddenly and without warning, and this harms several bodily functions, especially for women, as this harms the metabolism and slows it down, which causes weight gain, not the other way around.

What you do is beautiful

A person should always feel enjoyment and happiness in what he is doing so that he can do it well. He will never waste what he does in the list of compulsion or compulsion, otherwise he will back down and waste his effort in the end, so he must always innovate and innovate in the nutritional recipes that he follows in his diet.

Reward entitlement after diligence

Why do we always give our children gifts and rewards so that they always strive to excel and succeed? The same is true for the person who seeks the ideal weight if he must reward himself in order to encourage her to persevere and continue.

Implementation capacity ... I'm the best

Without a person's self-confidence, he will not be able to do anything. He must be confident that he is able to break the impossible, and trust his ability to reach the ideal weight, and be confident that he is continuing and persevering on his program until success and until the end ... Only thus will he reach what he aspires to ... optimum weight.
