World of Coincidences
Throughout human history, many strange and mysterious events have occurred. Sometimes these events can involve strange coincidences.
In today's article, I will tell you about the strangest coincidences in history.
Inca-Egyptian Mystery
One of the biggest historical coincidences ever has to do with the Inca Empire and the ancient Egyptians. Despite the distance of thousands of kilometers between the two civilizations, there are many similarities. Both cultures built pyramids aligned with the cardinal points of the universe and buried their dead with shiny jewels. They also used animals to symbolize all sorts of things like power and death. Let's not forget the mummies. Both Egyptians and Incas used embalming techniques that included similar rituals. They may have embalmed their dead differently, but it is a coincidence that both civilizations accepted the idea that the bodies of the dead must be preserved so that their souls could travel safely to the afterlife. On the other hand, we know that the Incas made human sacrifices, and the Egyptians did not take kindly to this. Yet there are many similarities between these two ancient civilizations. Even their main god looks alike. The main god of Egypt was called Ra, who symbolized the sun. The Incas, on the other hand, obeyed a god named Inti, who represented the sun. In fact, worshiping deities representing the sun is common to many ancient religions.
Chinese Mummies
We talked about the similarities between the Incas and the Egyptians. But did you know that China also has a bit in common with the Egyptians? One of the biggest similarities is that they mummified their dead. The Egyptians wrap their dead pharaohs in cloth, cover them with gold and artwork, and bury them in underground chambers. The Chinese also wrap their dead in cloth, covering them with jade robes before placing them deep in the caves. The Chinese embalming process involved covering a royal member with more than 200 jade slabs and weaving it with silver thread. Egypt and China also have other things in common. For example, both cultures kept dogs as pets. Both civilizations valued luxury items, oils, and fragrances. Both cultures had cults for the dead. While the complex rituals and funeral traditions are not exactly the same, both cultures had beliefs about death and the afterlife and invented rituals to make sense of the underworld. Which do you find more interesting, bandaged mummies and gold sarcophagi or jade-encrusted mummies?
Lady of Elche
The Lady of Elche is a mysterious artifact discovered in 1897 on a private Spanish estate. Today it is thought to be an Iberian princess, a goddess, or just a simple statue. The Lady of Elche is considered one of the most outstanding examples of sculpture from the ancient world. Actually, a farmer discovered this artifact by chance.
The Lady of Elche statue looks almost identical to Princess Leia from Star Wars. So much so that both women have the same curls of hair and a very similar face. However, coincidences do not end with science fiction movies. One of the main theories about the Lady of Elche is that she is a representation of an Atlantean goddess. It is thought that there could not have been such a well-made statue in pre-Christian Spain. The sculpture is extremely detailed. Also, many archaeologists agree that this artifact was carved around the 4th century BC and was decorated with vibrant red and blue colors at that time. At that time, people could not make such advanced works of art. At least, there was no such potential in Europe at that time.
