Cooking with Lava

How do you like steak? If your answer is well-done, you will love the next method. The lava project, carried out at the University of Sciences in New York, is a project that combines art and geology. Thanks to this project, students and researchers have the chance to observe lava in a laboratory environment. The melting point of molten basalt stone, which makes up almost 70% of the world, corresponds to 1260 degrees Celsius. That's 4.5 times the highest temperature most ovens have.

After giving this information, We can move on to the experiment that the researchers carried out in the laboratory. The researchers tried cooking the steaks on a wire rack placed a few centimeters above a trough in which they put molten lava. The lava was so hot that the meat had to be turned every few seconds. However, after 2 minutes everything was completely burned out. Of course, if you don't like burnt food, this isn't exactly a good cooking method. Maybe a nice feast could be had if the wire mesh was moved a little further from the lava. Say what?

Thanks to the heat trapped in metallic structures such as cars at temperatures that can reach 49 degrees, the temperature inside these structures can reach more than 40 degrees in 1 hour. The front panel of the cars exposed to the sun's rays can also reach an average temperature of 69 degrees. Interestingly, this temperature is the same as the baking temperature of the cookies. However, if the temperature does not continue to rise, the cookies will take much longer than usual to bake here. If your car is warm enough, you can put a tray of cookie dough. After a few hours you can have cookies that are almost baked but still look a little flat.

Arizona in the United States will sound like hell to you. In June 2010, summer temperatures in the city reached a scorching 47 degrees Celsius. Around this time, a youtuber decided to cook an egg on the pavement to show how hot the weather was. The video cuts out at this point as the egg begins to cook. 1 minute after that, we see again in the video that the egg is turned and the gold is cooked perfectly. Such concrete structures are relatively more resistant to temperature. This means that concrete can rise to very high temperatures, retaining more sunlight. However, concrete cannot be as good a conductor as a pan. The Library of Congress claims that it is theoretically possible to reach temperatures where eggs can be cooked on a sidewalk, but only if the air temperature is much higher than 47 degrees Celsius. Also, when we look at the video again, we see that there are traces similar to burn marks on the ground. Could this man have heated the pavement with something like a blowtorch to convince us that the egg was cooked? Maybe the temperature has really gotten high enough to cook eggs on the pavement.
