Martial Law

Election is fast approaching in our country. Many have rekindled the past and what have they experienced. Some proclaims details that was mentioned by their late grandparents or ancestors while others are trying to based it on their research.

My Lolo witnessed World War II and how the life was before when the country is been colonized. He said it was never easy as they will have to hide or else they will get killed. Everyday they have to fight for survival. Until finally, we were declared as an INDEPENDENT country.

With the declaration of inpendence come the election of the President. Fast forward, until the Marcoses reign the Government.

I can never forget before, I asked my grand father about his opinion and experienced before during Martial Law.

He said, these words:

"Sauna nindot kaayo kay linaw kaayo sa panahon ni anhing Marcos. Walay krimen, walay mag tambay o mag gawas sa magabie tungod sa curfew. Pero dili pud ka maka basta ug pa tapok-tapok kay madudahan man ka. Pero kung ikompara ang sauna ug karun nindot jud tong ing atu kay dili mapariwara imong mga anak kay mahadlok man. Karun mga bata kay pasagad naman lang wala na respetar ug kahadlok."

To make it simple my granpa appreciates the peaceful environment before during Martial Law but there were pros and cons. But then based on his statement if you live low-key then you wouldn't have to bear any punishment against the Government.

On the contrary, if you have watched THE KINGMAKER you would definitely have doubts. The Marcoses also proclaims that this documentary is just oto cost havoc as the eldest son of the Former President Marcos is planning to run for Presidency but they were actually interviewed.

If you have watched other people being interviewed a lot would say that they were molested and suffered in the hands of those absurb militaries.

But come to think of it, no one ever directs the accusation that those were direct order from the President. Either they are afraid to get are mostly militaries doing those things or if not low officials.

You see, as a leader you can never have everyone be under your command especially those that are blinded by luxury, fame and power! So you have to be wise and make sure you know who to trust as others might use you for their own advantage.

In the end, people who lived starting Marcos regime may have different experiences. We cannot rely on just one statement but whoever wins this election I hope it is someone that our Country needs.
