Limited F2F classes: It’s still up to us or to our parents.
March 11, 2022. Friday.
Today we held a Consultation/Orientation for the upcoming Limited Face to Face Classes. It was held at 1:00 pm via google meet, with the faculty of our University, students and their parents participated in the said event online. Of course, parents need to be there so that they know what will be discussed about its implementation and they will also know what their children need to do to take part in F2F classes.
It discussed at the event what everything we need to know in the upcoming Face to Face classes. And that was the content of the activity. What is in the photo is the topic that was discussed and explained at the event. There is a scope and coverage of those who can go face to face, the guidelines (Specific and General), what are the programs, courses, year level and what is the maximum number of students that will be allowed to enter face to face per program were also discussed, there is also the shifting schedule, the buildings to be used and the number of classrooms available, also discussed the vaccination status of students, teachers and faculty, and many other important topics that need to be known before agreeing to limited face to face classes.
Scope and Coverage shows what's the percentage of Indoor venues and Outdoor venues needed depending on what alert level system your area belongs to. Only areas in Alert Level 1 to Alert Level 3 are allowed to have limited face to face classes.
It was also said that only Fully Vaccinated Students will be allowed to participate in the limited f2f. Even if you have a 1st dose you are still not allowed to face to face even if you want to.
It was also discussed that only in the Major Subject there is face to face where laboratory, shop, or field work is required. And general subjects will still remain online. It is Blended learning in other words. And what was discussed was that only half of the class can go face to face, suppose that on Tuesday and Wednesday it is group 1 (consisting of half of the class) and on Thursday and Fruday the other half of the class or they will be the group 2.
Health and Safety measures that need to be maintained when conducting limited face to face classes have also been elaborated. All that is needed is for each student to have their own Personal Hygiene Kit that contains alcohol or sanitizer, wipes or tissue, extra mask and hand soap. There are also some guidelines for entering and leaving the University. As well as the guidelines in the canteen or when it's time for students' breaktime.
It was also said that it is not mandatory for everyone to attend limited face to face classes. This means that it still depends on the parents and the students themselves whether they want or not they want to attend limited face to face classes. So it's still up to us to decide whether we want to go face to face or just continue the online class. Of course, they are also worried about the condition of the majority, because there are those who do not really agree to f2f classes because they are not sure if it is safe and of course they can do nothing if the parent does not want to allow their child. And the student can't stop studying if he/she doesn't want to be allowed to go face to face, so they will still be allowed to take online classes.
Areas in Alert Level 4 and 5 are also not allowed to conduct limited face to face classes. And in case the area that went face -to -face returns to Alert Level 4 or 5, they can do nothing but stop this and go back to online classes.
They also clarified that the participants must be registered with PhilHealth (either direct or indirect contributors) to participate in limited f2f classes. This is necessary because in case something happens to the student, such as suddenly testing positive for Covid (but hopefully not) while taking face to face classes, PhilHealth will be able to cover the expenses.
And most importantly a student will not be allowed to participate in limited face to face classes if he or she is unable to provide the requirements. If he/she does not have Medical Insurance and is not a Member of PhilHealth, he/she cannot attend the upcoming face to face classes.
There are many more topics were discussed and I just didn't include them here because that's about our campus and the subjects, courses and programs.
Students who want to participate in face to face classes are given a few more weeks because it will start on April 4, 2022. They still have time to complete the requirements they need, one of the most important requirements is the consent of the parent if they will allow their children.
For now, I will first think carefully about what is better for me, the face to face classes or the online class. But even if you choose to go face to face, you will still take an online class because only Major Subjects have face to face. Just maybe the next day I'll just say my decision and I'll still wait because it's up also to my parents' decision.
The event ended in the afternoon around 4:00 pm because of the many questions from the students as well as the parents and faculty, of course they just wanted to be sure and know the answers to the question that was on their minds. They also want to be enlightened on what will really happen when face to face classes start. And there are many other things that need to be known and answered.
That's all for today. Now I have an idea of what will happen in case there will be face to face classes. But I will think carefully about my decision first. If face to face classes implemented in your area, will you agree on that? Hmm, you can comment your answers below. That's all for now. I think the school and the management have prepared for this already and for sure they have created a conducive and safer environment for the students. Still, you have a choice to make.
