Are you ready for Limited Face to Face Classes?
March 2, 2022. Wednesday.
Our province is already at Alert Level 1 and because of that there are many things that can be done again because the health restrictions and protocols are lessen. Almost the whole country is at Alert Level 1 and those with high Covid Cases are the only areas at Alert Level 2 or 3 but those are only a few areas.
And since you can do things just like before again like eat or dine again at fast food chains and restaurants, bars, resorts and others are now open, children can go out as long as they are vaccinated as well as seniors can go out. You can enter malls even without a face shield and as long as you wear a face mask and many other things you can do when your area is in Alert Level 1.
One of the things that can be done is face to face classes. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has already approved the areas in Alert Level 1 to go limited face to face. But it's not just CHED because DepEd has also been approved it. This means Elementary to High School can also dive into Limited F2F. But Colleges like me have been able to start with limited face to face last sem, but my course is not included among those who can attend f2f classes because the courses that really need to be focused on is what they allowed to diving in f2f courses like Nursing, Midwifery, Engineering and Architecture.
But recently our University posted that the IATF is already inspecting our University Campus and not only the 4 courses (the ones I mentioned above) they will allow to attend limited face to face classes because our course is also included.
Just this afternoon, they also surveyed whether the student will allow to go face to face classes, as well as the parents whether they will allow their child to attend face to face classes. Honestly, until now I have not taken the survey, there is still no due date for when I can answer the said survey. But the reason why I haven't answered yet is because I'm thinking about what will happen. I know in myself that I am excited to enter our University again and see my classmates, even though the others are probably excited to go back to face to face classes but I also think about the expenses.
Of course, everyone knows that prices of everything have gone up and so on, just like the fare. If I go face to face again, I might just run out of money on the fare because it's so expensive. From here on our house to the University, the fare is 40 pesos (by tricycle, that's the cheapest and fastest way to get there) but that's if I can take 1 other person with me but if I'm alone I'll pay 80 pesos . That's just going to the University, how about going back or going home? 40 or 80 pesos again. My allowance used to be 100 pesos per day only when that was the time when everything was still normal and there was no pandemic. Back then I only spent 20 pesos to go to university and only 20 pesos to go home to our house. So I still have 60 pesos left and that is for my food for the whole day, the food was still not that expensive then because you only need 40-50 pesos and you can buy rice and a dish. So my allowance is 600 pesos per week. Also because on Saturday we had school for the NSTP Subject but it was only half a day so I still had money left in my pocket every Saturday. And I also have different allowance for my projects.
But now I don't know if 100 pesos a day is enough, but I know the answer is definitely no. With the fare alone, your mone will went down immediately. Maybe you need 200 pesos now per day and I think that's enough. That's how much money you need now if the face to face classes will continue, it's still a favor in me because I'm still a little close to our university, how can my classmates who are far from the university and they still have to take a bus and jeep, right? How much money do they need?
But if in this sem we are really limited face to face, I can't do anything because that's their decision. But I would really have a hard time if that happened. Not just financially but in other things also like time and many more factors.
So my excitement was replaced by the fear of whether I would be able to survive when the face to face class started. I'm also not sure if the money I'm saving will be enough because maybe my savings depleted immediately less than 1 month. So I'm also thinking of being a working student again (really working physically) in case that happens after all I only have 8 subjects, not as many as before so maybe I can combine work and study again.
But we will see in the next few days what will really happens. March 7 is the start of our class but March 8-11 is adding/dropping of subjects so March 14 is still counted as the actual start of the class so there are less than 2 weeks or 1 week left and they have a few more days to announce if it limited face to face class will continue.

It is good to know that the cases in your area are dropping which is good, but challenging too for students like you. Grabe din, mahal ng pamasahe. Sabagay, same dito sa amin. Lalo ngayon kasi tumaas ang petrol and gasoline.
